A bunch of tournaments that were displaced due to the COVID pandemic last year have resurfaced and we get another this week when the European Tour heads to picturesque Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Switzerland for the Omega European Masters. The field is bolstered by a number of players who failed to make the cut for the PGA Tour playoff like Justin Rose, Martin Kaymer, Luke Donald and Henrik Stenson. Defending champ Sebastian Soderberg is also scheduled to peg it up. They’re all behind betting favorite Bernd Wiesberger, though the odds suggest a wide open field. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete list of tournament odds when you’re ready to place a wager.

Odds Analysis
Jamie Donaldson +5000
The odds certainly suggest taking a look further down the odds board and Donaldson has the game to be successful on this layout. He’s accurate off the tee, the approach game has been strong and overall solid putting has kept him competitive despite lacking distance on his drives. On a course that doesn’t require length, Donaldson could easily be in the running. He has three top-10s in his last eight visits and is coming off a podium finish at the Cazoo Classic putting his game in a good spot.
Martin Kaymer +4000
I’m not ready to quit on Kaymer and a two-time major champion and former world No. 1 at this price is inviting. Okay, most of that damage was done years ago, but the German has shown signs of breaking through and that keeps me coming back. He’s playing for the first time since missing the cut at The Open but he does have a runner-up in the BMW Open and a third in the Austrian Open giving me hope for a better showing this week.
Mike Lorenzo Vera +6600
There’s nothing that suggests Lorenzo Vera has a shot at the outright. He hasn’t even had a top-10 finish since last December. But peeling away the layers you discover some improvements in his game recently which leads me to believe a strong showing is in store. A strong putter, that part of his game has been missing leaving him unable to capitalize on his quality short game. He’s always been solid on the greens at Crans leading to a T6 in 2019 and a solo third in 2018. Getting back to comfortable surroundings could be what it takes for MLV to take the next step.
Richie Ramsay +5000
There’s value with Ramsay in the outright considering his run of form at Crans and his recent play. A win here in 2012 was part of three top-10s in four starts, so he’s familiar with the layout and its intricacies. He’s also coming off a T9 in the Cazoo Classic and has finished inside the top-28 in his last five starts. Course knowledge plus decent form equals a wager for the outright with a nice payout.
Bernd Wiesberger +2200
I don’t typically back the favorite, but at his price Wiesberger isn’t your typical favorite. He increased his chances of making the Ryder Cup team with his fifth-place finish at the BMW Open and is coming off a T21 in the Cazoo Classic. He didn’t have as much success on the PGA Tour, but a return to the Euro circuit, where he has eight lifetime wins, has been a boon to his game and his pocketbook.
Course: Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club – 6,848 yards, Par 70
At less than 6,900 yards Crans-sur-Sierre is a short course. The altitude makes it play even shorter making distance off the tee less of a factor. A stat that comes into play is greens in regulation, an area where previous winners excelled. Eight of the previous 13 winners ranked inside the top two for GIR. While the layout may appear easy due to its length, that’s hardly the case. The climate can change quickly with the elevation and the greens are small and tricky. The course requires players to stay on track, hit plenty of greens and save par when they miss them. And, of course, they’ll do it on one of the most breathtaking courses nestled along the Swiss Alps.
