Patrick Reed is making the trip to Germany this week for the Porsche European Open and he is listed as the co-favorite along with Paul Casey. Bryson DeChambeau and Pat Perez are also making the trip and they are listed as the third and fourth choice respectively. It is a top heavy field in terms of the odds, as only four players are listed at odds of less than +2500. Let’s look at the odds and predictions for Porsche European Open.

Odds Analysis
Patrick Reed +800
Reed hits the ball long enough to be a serious threat and there is no questioning his good play this season. He also isn’t coming from the states, as he has played the last two weeks in Scotland. Reed has also said that playing last year in Germany was a great experience for him and he is looking forward to this year’s event. I don’t back Americans in European Tour events that often, but Reed is a deserving favorite this week.
Paul Casey +800
Casey is ranked highly in Par 5 scoring this season and he always seems to be in the mix as a contender. The problem with backing him as a co-favorite is that he simply doesn’t win that often.
Bryson DeChambeau +1400
You can make a case for DeChambeau, as he ranks tied for 4th on the PGA Tour in Par 5 scoring. He has had a solid season with a win and four other top five finishes. I am still not entirely sold on DeChambeau and am not a fan, but he has the stats that make him a threat to win this event.
Pat Perez +2200
I think Perez has a decent chance this week and I like his odds better than any of the other favorites. Perez played pretty well last week at the Open and he hits the ball far enough to be a serious contender this week.
Adrian Otaegui +4000
I have two longshots this week, the first of which is Otaegui. He finished in the top five in this event last year and he hit it long and straight. He won on the European Tour earlier this season in the Belgian Knockout. He also won the Paul Lawrie Match Play in Germany last year.
Zander Lombard +9000
I am surprised that the number on Lombard is so high. He played well in this event a year ago, as he finished in a tie for 5th. He was really good in terms of driving distance last year in this tournament, ranking 6th and he was 5th in driving accuracy. It is not very often I give a player at odds of nearly 100-1 a chance, but Lombard is worth a flyer.
Course: Green Eagle is a long par 72 that measures 7,583 yards. It has three par 5’s in the final four holes. Distance is of paramount importance this week, especially since it has been so hot and dry in Germany lately. Last year the course played differently because of heavy rains. This year it is going to play very long and very fast.
