Paul Dunne and George Coetzee are the top betting choices to win this week’s Trophee Hassan II on the European Tour. Dunne has been playing well of late with strong finishes on the PGA Tour and the European Tour but he has yet to get a win, while Coetzee is a European Tour veteran. We are coming off a 2-2-1 week with last week’s picks at the Open de Espana. Let’s look at the odds and picks for this week’s Trophee Hassan II.

Trophee Hassan II Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. The last two winners on this course were Jeunghun Wang and Edoardo Molinari and neither one really fit the profile for winning on this course. The course has had some changes since the last time it hosted this event, as a number of holes have been lengthened, taking the course length to over 7,600 yards. The greens have been enlarged, so driving distance and putting will be the key stats to consider this week. There are five Par 5 holes on this course, so Par 5 scoring is also a key stat.
Nacho Elvira -120 vs. Eddie Pepperell
Elvira finished second on this course in 2016 and he played well last week in Spain. He was second in Putting Average last week and there is no reason to think he won’t do well again this week. Pepperell won earlier this season in Qatar but I still don’t think he is a top player. He came back last week and didn’t even make the cut in Spain. I will take Elvira in this matchup.
Mike Lorenzo-Vera -135 vs. Jordan Smith
Lorenzo-Vera has made the cut in all four previous starts in Africa. He actually was tied for 12th last year entering the final round of this event. He is also playing well with a tie for 10th in Qatar, a tie for 17th at the Maybank and he tied for 34th last week. I have no idea what has happened to Smith but he is simply a go-against right now. I will lay the price and take Lorenzo-Vera in this matchup.
David Horsey +100 vs. Nicolas Colsaerts
This is a play against Colsaerts who simply can’t putt well enough to contend. He is outside the top 100 in shots gained: putting. He has the distance, but it doesn’t matter because he can’t make putts. I will take Horsey at even money in this matchup.
Aaron Rai -105 vs. Pablo Larrazabal
Rai is one of the best putters on the European Tour and he is playing well with a tie for 12th last week and a tie for 9th at the Indian Open. He played pretty well in this event a year ago with a tie for 34th. Who knows what to expect from Larrazabal, as he is capable of winning this event or missing the cut. I will take Rai in this matchup.
