The fifth round of the FA Cup will take place this weekend. There are 16 teams left vying for the second-most coveted trophy in England, and there is a decent chance that a non-Premier League team wins the cup for the first time in nearly 40 years. Only seven Premier League teams remain in the competition and half of the Big Six clubs have been eliminated at this point. At least one more will be eliminated after this round too with Chelsea and Manchester United squaring off on Monday.

Manchester United must be incredibly frustrated with their draw. A few weeks ago, they were drawn against Arsenal, and they had to go on the road to vanquish the Gunners. If life were fair, that would have earned them a reprieve and a draw with a lesser club, but instead they now must travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.
Fortunately for United supporters, they will have two advantages coming into this game. Chelsea have been in poor form, and they will have less rest than their counterparts. In two of their last three games, Chelsea have been rocked. They were hammered 4-0 by Bournemouth two weeks ago, and they were eviscerated 6-0 by Manchester City last weekend.
Chelsea must go on the road to face Malmo late Thursday night too, and that will give United time to rest. I like their chances ahead of this match.

Speaking of teams being frustrated with their draws, you have to pity poor Newport County. The Exiles are the lowest ranking side left in the competition, and they have been impressive in their previous four matches. They drew two lower tier teams in the first two rounds of the FA Cup, but they were matched against Leicester City and Middlesbrough in the last two rounds. Newport County knocked off both teams at home, yet now they face the toughest team left in the competition in Manchester City.
City have been a force of nature. They crushed Rotherham United 7-0 in the third round and pummeled Burnley 5-0 in the fourth round to make it here, and they have been a wrecking ball in league play too in recent weeks.
This will be an impossible task for Newport County, but the Exiles have two things going for them. They will be playing at home, and this is not a competition City have cared about too much historically. Still, it’s extremely unlikely that the hosts win.

Wolverhampton narrowly survived quite the challenge from Shrewsbury in the last round. Wolves had to erase a two-goal deficit in the final 15 minutes to get a replay, and then they had to come back from a 2-1 deficit in that second leg. Now, they must face a Bristol City side that defend incredibly well.
The Rovers blanked Huddersfield Town in the third round, and they came back after allowing an early goal to get the win over Bolton in the last round too. I think Bristol City have an excellent chance to pull off the upset.

I don’t see QPR standing much of a chance against Watford in their FA Cup tie. The Hornets have been playing good football lately, and they have been fantastic in defense. They have secured a clean sheet in four of their last five matches against Premier League sides, so it is hard to see QPR breaking through given their struggles. I’m a little surprised that the odds on this are so low to be frank, but it’s my favorite play.
