Nowadays, La Liga teams aren't necessarily judged on how well they do in league play, rather how well they do in Cup matches. If that's the case, Atletico Madrid is going to come into Sunday's league match against Barcelona with a head of steam and a lot of supporters from the betting public, knowing that these two teams had tremendously different starts to their Champions League series.... 

Manchester City has itself a really tough road to sow over the course of the next several months. The Citizens not only have a crowded Premier League docket left to tend to, but a replay coming up in the FA Cup against Huddersfield as well. Now, to make matters worse, they have to prepare for a Tuesday night affair with AS Monaco in the biggest tournament of all, the Round of 16 of the Champions League.... 

Last year at this time, Juventus was stuck playing against Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 in in the Champions League. The Old Lady nearly pulled off the stunner, forcing the Reds into extra time before ultimately succumbing. Now, the Italians are back, and they've got a much easier draw ahead of them here in the UCL. A road test with FC Porto shouldn't prove to be all that much work, and a win on Portuguese soil should cement a place in the last eight.... 

Year in and year out, PSG fans hope that this will be the year their team breaks the mold and legitimately becomes a contender to win the Champions League. Unfortunately, this probably isn't going to be said year. The Parisians have run into a buzz saw in the Round of 16 in the form of Barcelona. Clearly, if the French side is going to have any chance to advance into the quarters, winning this match at home is a necessity before returning to Spanish soil.... 

Arsenal is one of these teams that tends to end up with a bad draw in the Champions League every year. The Gunners haven't had the best of luck in the Champions League over the years, and even though they won their group in the opening months of this tournament, they still were given the unluckiest of draws here in the Round of 16. Bayern Munich didn't have the best go of it at the start of this tourney, but the hope it has is that it will rebound and take care of business here in the Round of 16 to advance into the quarters starting with Wednesday's match at the Allianz.... 

Bruce Arena has more wins than anyone else in the history of the United States Men's National Team. Now, he's back in the saddle after taking over for Jurgen Klinsmann and will be making his second debut with the club in San Diego in a friendly match against Serbia that will help get the club ready for its next round of World Cup qualifiers in March.This soccer duel will go down Sunday, January 29, 2016, at 1 p.m. ET at Qualcomm Stadium. The match will be televised live on ESPN2.... 

There really isn't a heck of a lot left to determine in the bottom half of the Champions League table, but these games in the UCL mean a ton to the players on the pitch. The competition is always going to be fierce no matter whether it's the first or the last match in the group stage, and bettors will have a great opportunity to cash some big bets in these matches on the last day before the knockout rounds begin.... 

If there's any moving and shaking left to do in the group stage of the Champions League, this is the week to do it. There's not a heck of a lot of drama left in the top half of the table, but three of the four group winners are still up in the air, and that's reason enough to tune into all of the action.... 

The top half of the table in the Champions League is certainly a lot less dramatic than the bottom half of the table. Five of the eight slots in the knockout rounds are already locked up, and for all intents and purposes, Manchester City is already in the last 16 as well. Only Group B is left with any drama of the four groups, and we'll see how that plays out on the penultimate match day in the 2016-17 UCL.... 

Just two match days are left in the opening round of the Champions League, and if there's any movement left to be made in the groups, this is when it needs to happen. That said, we don't expect to see a lot of upsets here, knowing that many of the top teams are already mathematically through to the knockout rounds. The battles for positioning though, are still very much so hot and heavy.... 

While World Cup qualifying is continuing for so many of the teams across the world, UEFA is taking a hiatus for friendly matches. What we're seeing is a lot of teams who are taking the opportunity to play against some comparable teams to see how they're going to stack up when they hit the big stage again in 2018 in Russia. We know that both England and Spain will be there once qualifying is complete, and that makes this match one that should be paid very close attention to by the soccer betting ... 

All of the chalk has pretty much held up in the bottom half of the Champions League groups, and though occasionally, good little one pulled out a point at home, the big boys are basically ready to mathematically clinch their spots in the last 16 of this tournament. There's one notable exception though, in Group E, and that’s where a lot of the focus is going to be in Wednesday's matches in the UCL.... 

The top half of the Champions League will be back in competition once again on Tuesday for games that could ultimately decide once and for all who will be moving forward to the knockout rounds of the competition, who will be dropping into the Europa League and who will be finished in European play in 2016-17.... 

Consider this Wednesday the day of separation in Groups A through D in the Champions League. The teams we figured to be at the top of each of the groups have pulled through in the first two matches in the group stage, and with wins on Wednesday, all of the drama could really be sucked right out of the last three matches days of the biggest club competition in the world.... 

The United States Women's National Team has just four scheduled fixtures left to this season, and we're going to see how a relatively new era of stars takes to the pitch in preparation for a new year in 2017 that is going to be a nice bridge to the 2019 World Cup. This week, the team has two matches against No. 15 ranked Switzerland in what could be interesting affairs for sure.... 

We're only a couple matches into a six-match slog through the group stage of the Champions League, but on the bottom half of the draw, there already doesn't seem to be a heck of a lot of drama left in who is ultimately going to be advancing, or at least who's going to be finishing at the bottom of each group. The drive to the knockout rounds continues this Tuesday night with a number of matches that the top teams will hope further separates them from the bottom-feeders at the halfway point of group play....

When we look back at the 2016-17 European soccer season, we're going to recognize just what a tremendous shock it was that recently promoted Alaves was able to beat Barcelona at Camp Nou. It was one of the most unbelievable upsets we've seen in Spanish soccer in quite some time, and now, a fragile Catalan side has to get ready for its first Champions League effort of the season against Celtic.At 2:45 p.m. ET, tune into network for live television coverage of this Champions League match on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Camp Nou.... 

Three straight seasons have seen Sevilla get into the Champions League the hard way, fighting through the Europa League to ultimately snare the coveted spot in this field as the tourney champs. Three straight seasons have also seen Sevilla bow out as a third place team at the group stage. The big problem the Spanish side always seems to have is getting results in matches like this one against a big boy team like Juventus, particularly on the road. Romanian champion, Steaua Bucuresti always knows that it was heading into the Europa League this year unless it was handed a relatively favorable playoff matchup. Instead of getting a team like Red Bull Salzberg or FC Rostov though, the Romanians ended up landing Manchester City instead. Ouch. Steaua was beaten 5-0 in the first leg of this home-and-home series, and now, it only has 90 minutes of soccer left before taking the drop into the secondary tournament in Europe while the Citizens take their place in the group stage of the UCL.This Champions League duel will go down Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 2:45 p.m. ET at Ethiad Stadium. The match will be televised live on FOX Sports 1.... 

In the last tune-up for the United States Women’s National Team before heading to Rio de Janeiro for the Summer Olympics and the Stars and Stripes are looking to get a big sendoff. The USWNT has yet to lose a match this calendar year and has looked sharp in defeating other tournament teams. The American ladies have knocked off Colombia, Japan, and South Africa and now face Costa Rica before taking the plane to Brazil.... 

Euro 2016 has been a tournament chalk full of upsets, but when the dust has settled the finals have come to fruition, two of the team six teams from the outset of the tourney have reached the Promised Land. The host nation, France will get a chance to replicate its triumph the last time it hosted a major tournament when it won the World Cup in 1998 if it can knock off Portugal in the last match of Euro 2016.... 

The United States Women's National Team only has two matches left to go before heading to Rio for the Olympics.
