Everton have had an up and down season. The Toffees continue to remain slotted somewhere in the middle of the table with no hope of seeing Europe, and they have given their supporters some heartbreaking results. A win would tie them with the Gunners, but they need to make up five goals to actually move ahead. Chelsea had knocked off Tottenham and Fulham in league play before needing a late Eden Hazard goal to draw Wolves last week.
The first match between these two sides ended in a 0-0 draw. Chelsea dominated possession and had more shots and shots on goal but couldn’t break through.
Key Injuries
Kurt Zouma will be unavailable to be one of Everton’s center backs in this match as he has been recalled to international duty, and Phil Jagielka is unlikely to play due to a knock. Leighton Baines is probable to play after missing last week with a lower back injury, and Seamus Coleman is set to return.
Marco van Ginkel remains out for Chelsea with an ACL injury, while Gonzalo Higuain is doubtful to play because of a knock.
Player to Watch
This is probably Eden Hazard’s last year at Chelsea. It’s looking increasingly unlikely that the club will be able to re-sign their best player, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. Hazard has been very sharp for Chelsea this season, and he has come up big when needed like he did against Wolves last week.
