EPL Betting Odds

Both Watford and Leicester City have been ensconced in the middle of the table all year. Neither club will be playing in Europe next season, but neither club has to worry about relegation either. That’s good news for both teams with the new Premier League television contract kicking in next year, and they are vying for a bigger piece of the pie. The EPL allocates its television money depending on where you finish in the table, so it’s important for both clubs to finish as close to the top as possible.

Don't miss the English Premier League action from Vicarage Road in Watford at 7 a.m. ET on Sunday, March 3, 2019. Catch every moment of the match live on NBCSN.

Odds Analysis

Watford have performed about as well as you could ask any mid-table club too. The Hornets have secured a result in 10 straight EPL matches against non-Big Six teams, and that has placed them in the top half of the table. They are currently tied with Wolves at 40 points, and their play still has them alive in the FA Cup too. Their last defeat at the hands of a club outside the Big Six came against this same Leicester City team back in early December, and Watford are looking to even up the score.

The big news for Leicester centers around their new manager. Claude Puel was sacked earlier in the week after a falling out with some of the team’s best players, and he has been replaced by former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers. Rodgers is a curious figure, and it will be interesting to see how he fairs in his first match. The Foxes had failed to get a win since January 1 until Tuesday’s win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Key Injuries

There are just two injuries to report for both teams ahead of this match. Daniel Amartey is expected to miss at least one more match for Leicester City, but he should return very soon. He has been out for four months with a foot injury, and the Foxes are looking forward to getting him back. Marc Albrighton will miss the match due to a thigh injury, and there is no timetable on when he might return.

Miguel Britos has been ruled out by Watford due to illness, while Kiko Femenia is a gametime decision. Femenia has been out for some time, but he seems to be close to returning from a thigh injury.

Player to Watch

Gerard Deulofeu has become a very popular man around Europe. In a 5-1 win over Cardiff City last weekend, he became the first Watford player to notch a hat trick in 33 years, and the young Spanish forward has been linked to some of the biggest clubs in Europe. He was brought up in Barcelona’s youth system, but this season has been his first real breakout success as the club had been loaning him out to other teams in hopes of getting him seasoning. The Hornets are looking really shrewd after getting him at a discount price this offseason.

Prop Bet – Over 2.5 and 3 Goals +128

This is going to be a fun match. The Foxes are likely to be more aggressive under Rodgers than they were under Puel, and that should lead to both sides playing an open game. I think there will be a number of goals, and I like the over to cash.

The over is my favorite play here, but if I had to choose a side I would go with Watford. The Hornets have been very consistent and they should continue to look sharp.

English Premier League Odds: Watford 3, Leicester City 1
