The Merseyside Derby is one of the best rivalries in the Premier League, and this year’s edition has meant much more than usual. With Liverpool leading the league by just one point, the Reds can’t afford to drop any points in their quest to win the first Premier League title in club history. Everton nearly grabbed a result the last time these teams met, and the Toffees would love to play spoiler against their rivals here. Less than a mile separates these two stadiums, so supporters of both teams are sure to make their voices heard.

Odds Analysis
Everton have been going through a rough patch. The Toffees are currently in ninth place in the table, but they could be in seventh if they didn’t have so many hiccups in the last six weeks. They have only been able to beat teams currently facing relegation, Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City to be specific, and they dropped matches against Southampton, Wolves, and Watford. All of those were winnable matches, but Everton just couldn’t get the job done.
Liverpool have staunched the bleeding. The Reds nearly squandered a seven-point lead over Manchester City, but they are up a point with 10 games left to play this season and only have to play two more Big Six clubs (Tottenham and Chelsea in Anfield). They were disappointed with a scoreless draw against Manchester United last weekend, but Liverpool were delighted after their 5-0 beatdown of Watford on Wednesday. Sadio Mane and Virgin van Dijk each notched a brace in the win.
When these teams met at Anfield, the final score should have been 0-0. Everton had earned a draw with their haggard defending, but then disaster struck. Jordan Pickford completely misplayed a ball, and a weird carom off the crossbar gave Divick Origi a tap-in in the sixth minute of extra time to give Liverpool the win.
Key Injuries
Leighton Baines is the only injury worry for the side of Everton. Baines suffered a rib injury recently, and he is listed as questionable.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez are out for at least another month, and those are the only two scratches for Liverpool. Dejan Lovren is questionable to play with a thigh injury, while Roberto Firmino is probable.
Player to Watch
For the second straight season, Richarlison’s play has tailed off in the second half of the campaign. He was a terror through the early part of the year, but he has just one goal and no assists through Everton’s last nine games and that has been a big reason why the club has struggled. Richarlison is the most gifted player on Everton, and he must find a way to get on the scoresheet once more.
Prop Bet – Will Both Teams Score? No -111
Opportunities were scarce the last time these teams met, and I think Everton will look to defend like mad. The Toffees will keep the game in front of them as much possible, and Liverpool has had some trouble breaking through when talented teams go that route. That should mean a low scoring game.

I don’t think we’ll see any scoring in the first half, but I think Liverpool will find a way to break through in the second. The Reds will do just enough to get the win and maintain their narrow lead over Manchester City.
English Premier League Odds: Liverpool 1, Everton 0
