It’s been a very good year for the Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolverhampton are sitting in seventh place in the table, and they are four points ahead of eighth place Everton. They are the top non-Big Six club in England, and that’s quite the accomplishment for a team that was in Championship last season. Wolves are unlikely to break into the top six since they are nine points back of the pack, but they are looking to maintain their position in the table against Newcastle United on Monday Night Football.

Odds Analysis
After a rough three months, Newcastle United have looked much better on the pitch and they have pulled themselves out of the relegation zone. The Magpies are two points ahead above the drop, but they have Southampton and Burnley to use as a cushion considering they are level on points with those two clubs and have a better goal differential. Despite a harrowing stretch where they have played a Big Six club in four of their last five matches, they have acquitted themselves well. They hammered Cardiff City, stunned Manchester City, and nearly earned a point on the road against Tottenham Hotspur.
Wolves have been one of the best at earning results against Big Six clubs, and they are finally starting to put their foot down against mid-table teams too. They have now won three straight league matches, and Wolves have been finding the back of the net often too. They have scored at least three goals in each of their last three matches, winning all three. The Wanderers beat Leicester City in a 4-3 thriller, blanked West Ham 3-0, and then went on the road to beat Everton 3-1.
Key Injuries
Record signing Miguel Almiron will have to wait at least one more week to make his Newcastle debut as he is awaiting international clearance. Jonjo Shelvey, Karl Darlow, and Mohamed Diame all may be set to return though and all three players are listed as questionable. Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, and Ki Sung-Yeung are all questionable to play as well.
Nuno Espirito Santo may have his full squad available for selection on Monday. Only two players are listed on the injury report, and both Diogo Jota and Ruben Vinagre are considered probable.
Player to Watch
Raul Jimenez has had a fantastic season for Wolves. Jimenez is leading the club in goals, and he has factored into nearly half of the team’s 33 goals with nine goals and six assists. His emergence has been surprising considering how disappointing he was during his time at Benfica, but he has been an integral part of Wolves’ success.
Previous Meeting
Wolves and Newcastle looked destined to draw when these teams played at St. James’ Park in early December. They were dead level for over 90 percent of the match with Diogo Jota’s early opener being matched six minutes later by Ayoze Perez. They went into extra time tied, but then Matt Doherty played spoiler with a winner for Wolves near the end of the fourth minute of extra time. It was a crushing loss for Newcastle.
Prop Bet – Wolverhampton 1, Newcastle United 1 at +393
Although Wolves have been playing sound football lately, I like the way Newcastle have looked too. They are defending better, and they are finally getting some production from their attack. If some of their questionable players are able to go, I like their chances to get a result.

The draw is a nice bet at this price, so I’ll be taking that in terms of basic odds.
