Liverpool at Brighton and Hove Albion - EPL Betting

Liverpool lost their first game of the season last week, but the Reds are still atop the Premier League table. It’s been a fantastic season for Liverpool up to this point. They are four points ahead of Manchester City in the league, and they are now the favorites to win the Premier League for the first time ever. Liverpool are heavy favorites to get all three points this week when they head south to take on Brighton & Hove Albion.

Odds Analysis

When these teams met at Anfield earlier this year, Brighton held firm at the back for most of the match. Liverpool had 22 shots on compared to just 6 for Brighton, but Mo Salah made the most of his efforts. Salah scored the game’s lone goal in the 23rd minute in a 1-0 Reds Victory.

It’s been a successful campaign for the Seagulls this year too. Brighton are in the middle of the table with 26 points, and they are 10 points clear of the drop. They are unbeaten in their last three Premier League matches with draws against Arsenal and West Ham and a win over Everton. The Seagulls were able to successfully counter Bournemouth to advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup last week too, and they will be favored to beat West Brom. Brighton are 5-3-2 at home this year.

Liverpool’s FA Cup hopes were dashed by Wolves on Monday, but a Premier League title would more than make up for the early exit. Prior to the 2-1 loss to Manchester City, the Reds had been tearing up the Premier League with nine straight victories to give themselves breathing room at the top of the table.

Key Injuries

Brighton will be without three players for this match. Jose Izquierdo is continuing to recover from a knee injury that has sidelined him for the last few weeks, but he may be able to return to the team next week. Mathew Ryan and Alireza Jahanbakhsh are away from the team on AFC Asian Cup duty and each player will be gone for at least this week and next. Bernardo Fernandes da Silva Junior is questionable with a thigh injury.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a long-term injury for Liverpool, and Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez are expected to miss the next few weeks. Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson are both doubtful to play, while Virgil van Dijk is questionable to take the field.

Player to Watch

Salah gets a lot of the attention at Liverpool, and rightfully so, but Roberto Firmino has been one of the team’s best players since joining four years ago too. Firmino has notched at least 10 goals in every season thus far, and he is well on his way to another double-digit goal season. He has eight goals in 21 matches this year, and he scored a hat trick against Arsenal and the team’s lone goal in the loss to Manchester City last week.

Prop Bet of the Game – Brighton & Hove Albion Over 0.5 -126

Although Liverpool have been the best defensive team in the Premier League this season, Brighton have been very good at home. They have shown more of a desire to push forward and have the best home record of any team outside the big six. Liverpool have opened things up more in recent weeks, so I think the Seagulls will net one here.

This will be a tougher test than many believe for Liverpool. The Reds will eventually get the three points, but this will be hard fought.
