The Premier League’s top two teams will clash in the most important game of this young season when Manchester City heads west to take on Liverpool. These two sides were the two betting favorites to win the Premier League at the beginning of the season, and they have both lived up to their billing to this point. A win for either team would be huge and put them all alone in first place heading into the international break next week.

Odds Analysis
Liverpool were heralded as the biggest threat to Manchester City’s bid to repeat as champions at the start of the year, and the Reds have lived up to the pundits’ expectations. The Reds started their campaign with six straight wins, including a key victory on the road against Tottenham. They had their toughest yet on the road against Chelsea last week and trailed for much of the match before Daniel Sturridge leveled in the 89th minute for the Reds to get a draw.
The Citizens are crushing the Premier League, just like they did last season. They have already obliterated Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City by five points, and Manchester City grabbed a road win against an Arsenal team that is improving by the week. City were forced to settle for a draw on the road against Wolverhampton, and that is their lone setback in EPL play to this point.
Key Injuries
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a long-term injury for Liverpool, and he will miss this match and probably the entire year. Adam Lallana is listed as questionable, but the real worry is Naby Keita. Keita suffered a scary back injury against Napoli in Champions League play on Wednesday, and he was kept overnight for evaluation. There is no word on his condition, and he certainly won’t play against Manchester City.
Seven different players are on the injury report for Manchester City ahead of this match. Eliaquim Mangala, Claudio Bravo, Fabian Delph, Philippe Sandler, and Kevin de Bruyne have all been ruled out due to injuries. Ilkay Gundogan is doubtful with a hamstring injury, while Benjamin Mendy is questionable due to a foot issue.
Player to Watch
Mo Salah has just seven goals through three Premier League matches, so many are questioning the Liverpool star after registering a league-high 32 goals last season. It’s certainly been a frustrating last few months for Salah after everything surrounding his future international participation with Egypt. However, advanced metrics have told us that Salah seems to be fine. He has had more quality chances than any other player in the league according to Opta, and his expected goal output is the highest in the Premier League. It’s only a matter of time until Salah turns that into goals.
Prop Bet of the Game – Under 2.5 at +128
Both Manchester City and Liverpool have defended very well this season. Each team has allowed just three goals through seven games, and for that reason I’m going to go with an alternate total under at positive odds. Alisson has solved Liverpool’s goalkeeper woes, and fellow Brazilian Ederson has been great for Manchester City. These goalkeepers can hold the opposing offense at bay.

Other than the under, I like the odds on the draw on this match. Neither team could be too upset with a draw all things considered, and both managers are likely to use more reserved tactics after last season’s four matches were all incredibly high scoring. A 1-1 exact score might be worth a play as well.
English Premier League Odds: Manchester City 1, Liverpool 1
