Matchday 1 Premier League Odds Report

At long last, the Premier League campaign will get underway this Friday. Liverpool and Manchester City are the overwhelming favorites to claim the league coming into this year, but all 20 clubs have their sights set on Premier League glory. The week will start with Champions League winner Liverpool taking on recently promoted Norwich City on Friday, and the matchday will conclude with Manchester United hosting Chelsea.

Liverpool FC -714
Norwich City +1349
Draw +779
Over/Under 3 and 3.5

This could be one of the most fun games of the week. We all know Liverpool are one of the most talented clubs in the world. They have a trio of incredible offensive talents and a rock-solid back line led by Virgil van Dijk.

Norwich are more interesting than most newly promoted teams. The Canaries played a free-flowing style that was very appealing to the eye on their way to the Championship title last season, and they seem ready to give that a go in the Premier League.

There could be some real fireworks in this one. Keep an eye on Norwich’s Teemu Pukki as if the Canaries score, it will likely be through him.

West Ham United +929
Manchester City -384
Draw +491
Over/Under 3 and 3.5

The defending champions are even stronger with the addition of Rodri, but the Hammers have improved considerably this offseason too. West Ham signed Sebastien Haller and Pablo Fornals to make their attack even more formidable with Felipe Anderson looking strong too.

Manchester City are likely to cruise to a road win, but the Hammers could pose a significant challenge with this revamped lineup.

Crystal Palace +194
Everton FC +146
Draw +218
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

There has been buzz growing around Everton this summer. Fabian Delph came over from Manchester City, but their biggest splash was landing Moise Kean from Juventus. Kean impressed in limited action in Serie A, yet he didn’t have the chance to fully develop behind so many other established veterans. He will be looking to make a great first impression.

Leicester City +126
Wolverhampton Wanderers +226
Draw +221
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

These could be the two best non-Big Six clubs at the end of the season. Leicester City lost Harry Maguire, but they brought in Ayoze Perez and Youri Tielemans for a combined 70 million pounds. The Foxes have a known commodity in Brendan Rodgers on the sidelines, and they should be more dangerous on the attack than they were last year.

I have made my love of Wolves coming into this season clear. I believe they will crack into the top six under Nuno, and they are one of the scariest teams to play because of how deadly they are on the country. They should be even better this season.

AFC Bournemouth -112
Sheffield United +293
Draw +261
Over/Under 2.5

The Cherries had a nightmare end to last year as injuries ruined their hopes, and they are optimistic that they can finish in the top half of the league if they stay healthy. Their opponents are merely hoping to stay out of the relegation zone, but they are the favorite to make the drop per the EPL betting odds.

Watford FC -109
Brighton & Hove Albion FC +322
Draw +235
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

It’s going to be a long season for Brighton. Glenn Murray will turn 36 next month, and the lack of any real offensive options is a real worry. They only just survived relegation last season, and that might be a real difficult task this campaign.

Burnley FC +156
Southampton FC +180
Draw +220
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

This is an important first match for Burnley, as they are going to be sizable underdogs in their next three (Arsenal, Wolves, Liverpool). They didn’t make many moves over the summer, but they should be better prepared after the rigors of the Europa League wrecked them at the start of last season.

Tottenham Hotspur -357
Aston Villa +781
Draw +500
Over/Under 2.5 and 3

Spurs have finally spent money and optimism is high entering their first full season in the new White Hart Lane. Son Heung-min took a huge step forward, and if Harry Kane can stay healthy, Spurs could compete with Liverpool and Manchester City for most of the year.

Newcastle United +336
Arsenal FC -131
Draw +279
Over/Under 2.5 and 3

The Gunners delighted their fans by signing Pepe a couple weeks ago. There had been some disgruntled fans voicing their opinions about what was happening at the Emirates prior to the signing, but that has eased some concerns heading into the season. The same can’t be said about Newcastle, where fans have been rankled at management for most of the last year. A big loss in the first week would only intensify those feelings.

Manchester United +116
Chelsea FC +239
Draw +232
Over/Under 2.5

These two traditional powerhouses will meet in the only match between big six clubs in the first week. Both clubs aren’t as strong as usual with Chelsea’s transfer ban in effect and Paul Pogba being pursued by Real Madrid, but there will be plenty of animosity for what should be the most intense match of the week.
