Tottenham Hotspur have been living a charmed life over the last month or so. The club rallied from a precarious position in order to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League, and they have improved their position in the Premier League too. Spurs are currently in third place with 39 points, and they are two points up on Chelsea and five points up on Arsenal. They are hoping to maintain their place when they travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton this week.

Odds Analysis
Everton are right about where they have finished the past few seasons. The Toffees are sitting in eighth place in the table currently after briefly flirting with a Europa League spot last month. They have only grabbed two draws from their last four matches, but they can’t be too upset with road losses to Liverpool and Manchester City given their place in the standings. However, home draws against lowly Newcastle United and Watford caused the team to fall down the standings.
The big story for Spurs right now is the fate of manager Mauricio Pochettino. Pochettino is rumored to be desired by both Manchester United and Real Madrid, and it’s obvious he is frustrated with the club’s ownership. He wanted Tottenham to make moves during the summer transfer window, but they didn’t make a single signing and it doesn’t appear like they will make a move during the winter either. Spurs’ refusal to spend money on players could lead to him making an exit.
Key Injuries
James McCarthy and Idrissa Gueye are both listed as questionable for Everton here. McCarthy has been rehabbing an injury, while Gueye is dealing with a groin issue.
Tottenham are going to be without Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen until at least January, while Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen are more long-term injuries. Mousa Dembele will miss at least this match too as he continues to heal from an ankle issue. Juan Marcos Foyth, Harry Kane, and Davinson Sanchez are all listed as probable, and Spurs are really hoping they can go.
Player to Watch
It’s been incredible to see Richarlison in action this season. The youngster was the highest-priced acquisition in Everton history, and yet he has been a bargain from what we have seen through the first half of the season. Even though he is not a natural forward and is more of a creator on the edge, he has stepped into the forward role admirably. He is one of the league’s leading scorers with eight goals this year, and most of those goals have been solely his creation.
Prop Bet of the Game – Over 3 Goals +127
Due to the problems in Tottenham’s back line, the over in this game is a pretty good bet. Everton should be able to score at least one with Richarlison wreaking havoc, and I think the Spurs will have a good day on offense themselves. Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, and company are playing well, and Kane seems like he’ll be ready to go by the time this one rolls around.

The Toffees wouldn’t be too upset with a draw here. Tottenham are one of the top teams in the league, and a tie against them is different than a tie with Watford or Newcastle. Meanwhile, Spurs have a mid-week tilt with Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, so a draw wouldn’t be awful considering they are on the road and have a number of injuries to deal with. I’ll take the over and the draw.
English Premier League Odds: Everton 2, Tottenham 2
