Defense has been the calling card for Everton this season. The Toffees have leaned on their back line throughout the season, and it has paid off. They are currently in sixth place in the table, and allowing just 17 goals this season has been the reason behind their success. Everton are looking to pick up a win and remain the frontrunner for a potential Europa League spot when they face Watford on Monday. The Hornets are currently 11th in the table, but they are just three points back of Everton.

Odds Analysis
Watford got off to a great start this season. The Hornets were hanging around the top five for the first couple months of the season, but they have fallen back over the past month. They have picked up a result just once in their past five matches, and that was a draw on the road against Southampton. Those losses can be forgiven though. The two home losses were at home to Liverpool and Manchester City, and those other two losses were on the road.
The Toffees have picked up results in four of their last five matches. Everton started November with a win over Brighton, and they followed that up with a solid draw on the road against Chelsea. Another win over Cardiff City helped them after the international break, but they fell to Liverpool last weekend and needed a Richarlison goal to grab a draw against Newcastle United in the middle of the week. They have been great in defense recently, allowing just three goals in those five matches.
Key Injuries
The Hornets will not have star Tom Cleverley available for this match as he continues to heal from a calf injury, and Adalberto Penaranda has been declared out too because of a foot injury. Etienne Capoue will miss the match due to a three-game suspension he earned from a late red card against Leicester City. Darryl Janmaat is listed as questionable to play, while Will Hughes has been declared doubtful.
No player has been definitively ruled out for Everton, and that’s great news at this point of the year. James McCarthy is considered questionable to play in this match, while Morgan Schneiderlin is probable and should play as long as he passes a late fitness test.
Player to Watch
Richarlison has set the Premier League on fire since coming to Everton. He has had far more success at Goodison Park than he did at Watford last year, and he has been the main offensive option for the Toffees. The young Brazilian has seven goals this season, and he has notched three of the team’s last five goals. Richarlison became the club’s most expensive acquisition ever this offseason, and Chelsea are rumored to be in hot pursuit of his talents.
Prop Bet of the Game – Everton To Win To Nil +178
Given their performance in the back these last few weeks, I’m going to trust the Toffees to pitch a shutout here. Watford have been shut out in three of their last five matches, and they have scored just once in their last five road matches. Everton should be able to get a goal through either Richarlison or Gylfi Sigurdsson.

If you’re feeling a bit frisky, taking Everton to win 1-0 as an exact score might be worth a look. They have looked sharp in the back, and their health will mean they won’t be playing with a shallow bench. Watford miss Cleverley, and they could have a hard time scoring here.
English Premier League Odds: Everton 1, Watford 0
