Wolverhampton at Manchester City - EPL Online Props

Manchester City salvaged their chances of repeating as Premier League champion with a win over Liverpool last week. However, the Citizens are still four points behind the Reds, and they know they must keep winning if they hope to surpass them once more. This week, they will also be out to get a little bit of revenge when they take on the Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolverhampton were the first team to take a point off of Manchester City this year, in a 1-1 draw in late August.

Odds Analysis

The Citizens had a disastrous December. They were leading Liverpool by the thinnest of margins at the start of the month, but they lost three matches during the month and tumbled down into second place. City lost on the road to Chelsea, and they suffered a stunning home loss to Crystal Palace right before Christmas. A Boxing Day loss against Leicester City made things worse, but their 2-1 win over Liverpool kept the Reds within striking distance.

Perhaps no team has been as confusing as Wolverhampton this season. The Wanderers have been at their best against some of the best teams in the Premier League, but head-scratching losses to middle of the table tiers have kept them from really making a move. In the last five weeks, they have defeated both Chelsea and Tottenham, the latter on the road, and Liverpool in the FA Cup, but they lost to bottom of the table Cardiff City and Crystal Palace too. They have been an enigma all year.

Key Injuries

Claudio Bravo is a long-term injury for the side of Manchester City. Their reserve goalkeeper was hurt in preseason, and he is unlikely to play this year. Fortunately, they have healed up in other areas though. City once were dealing with nearly a dozen injuries, but no one else is guaranteed to miss this match. Vincent Kompany is doubtful with a muscular injury, Benjamin Mendy is questionable with a knee injury, and Sergio Aguero is probable with an illness.

Wolves are not dealing with any injuries. They were able to heal up despite not having a break for the holidays.

Player to Watch

Even though he plays for Manchester City, Raheem Sterling is one of the more underrated players in the Premier League. On a team full of superstars its sometimes hard to get the credit you deserve, and Sterling falls into that category. He has been great at both slotting chances home and setting teammates up, and he is in seventh heaven on the year. Sterling has seven goals and seven assists.

Prop Bet of the Game – Under 2.5 Goals at +184

Wolves have one of the top defenses in the league. They have been especially good on the road too, and they have surrendered just 10 goals in 10 road games. In a year where the Premier League spent a lot of money on goalkeepers, the acquisition of Rui Patricio has somewhat gone under the table, but he has been a fantastic addition.

On the other end of the pitch, Manchester City have not given up a lot of goals either. They have surrendered just 17 goals on the year.

Free Soccer Betting Pick

The under is my favorite play here, but it’s hard to see Wolves getting results in both their matches against Manchester City. The Citizens struggled due to injuries and perhaps a lack of focus, and neither of those things are the case now. I think City will get the win.
