2022 Wimbledon Championship Men’s Tennis Betting

Novak Djokovic is a solid favorite to win his seventh Wimbledon title. The 2022 Wimbledon tournament begins on Monday, June 27. Djokovic is listed as the odds-on favorite with no other player listed with odds of less than 7-1. It is a watered-down field, as World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev is inexplicably not being allowed to play simply because he is Russian, while World No. 2 Alexander Zverev is injured. Djokovic has won Wimbledon six times, including each of the last three times and there is no question he is the top choice to win this year’s title. The one concern is that Djokovic is not in top form, as he missed the Australian Open and he is just 3-3 recently against Top 10 players. Rafael Nadal and Matteo Berrettini are the co-second choices at odds of +700.

Let’s look at the 2022 Wimbledon event on the men’s side, Wimbledon odds and Wimbledon picks.

2022 Wimbledon Betting Odds

Novak Djokovic -135

Matteo Berrettini +700

Rafael Nadal +700

Carlos Alcaraz +1000

Hubert Hurkacz +1700

Felix Auger Aliassime +1900

Nick Kyrgios +2900

Marin Cilic +3000

Stefanos Tsitsipas +4200

Andy Murray +5500

Denis Shapovalov +8500

All other players are listed with odds of +10000 or more or they are part of the field.

Top Contenders

There are just four players listed with odds of less than 17-1. It is really Djokovic and then everyone else. Nadal is not nearly as good on grass as he is on clay, but he is still listed as the co-second choice in the betting odds. Nadal hasn’t even played Wimbledon since 2019, but he is still getting a ton of respect in Wimbledon betting odds.

Berrettini has a big serve and a slicing backhand and that means he is better on grass than on other surfaces. He finished second last year at Wimbledon and he has been rolling on grass with titles at Stuttgart and Queen’s Club.

Alcaraz has already shown he can beat the big boys, as he beat Djokovic and Nadal in Madrid and he beat Zverev to win the Madrid Open title. He is the youngest player since Nadal to be ranked in the ATP top-10.

Longshots

Everyone else is really a longshot and may not be worth considering, but at least you are getting big prices. Hubert Hurkacz is listed at 17-1 and he is definitely known for his grass court play. He has a big serve and he has proven in the past he can beat the top players, as he beat Federer in the quarterfinals. Nick Kyrgios is listed at odds of 29-1 and we know he has the talent to win, but he usually doesn’t have the temperament. He has beaten Nadal and Djokovic in the past so he will have confidence. The other player to consider is Stefanos Tsitsipas at odds of +4200. He is actually the fourth seed and he is still playing well. His record this year is 36-13. It is not out of the question that he could make a big run and contend for the title.

Wimbledon Picks

There is no doubt that Djokovic is the likely winner of Wimbledon, but there is also no question that there is very little value betting at him at odds of -125. The question is whether anyone is capable of beating him. I think the answer is yes, especially with Djokovic not in top form. I am not taking Nadal to do it, as he simply isn’t as good on grass as on clay. I think there is some value in taking Berrettini at odds of 7-1. I also think you can make a case for taking a flyer on Kyrgios at odds of 29-1. He may very well blow up and have a fit, but he has said he has his temper in better control. If that is true, he could be a serious threat and we get some attractive Wimbledon odds.
