The six-month long MLB regular season has finally come to an end and October is upon us. This is the first year of the expanded playoff, and the four teams that have automatic byes into the Divisional Round of the playoffs are obviously the favorites to win the World Series by the MLB futures odds. The Dodgers, Astros, Braves, and Yankees are all 5-1 or less, and the only Wild Card team that is less than 15-1 is the New York Mets.

Odds Analysis
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been the favorites to win the World Series since back in February. They won 111 games and finished with a whopping +334 run differential, and they haven’t even been at their absolute peak. Walker Buehler missed almost the entire season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, and the bullpen has been dealt some significant blows. Max Muncy and Cody Bellinger continued to disappoint at the plate too, but the Dodgers showed they are the class of the majors by finishing with the best record. They might run into some trouble in the NLDS though, as Clayton Kershaw has not been at his best in the postseason, and a lot will be asked of Julio Urias and Tyler Anderson.
Houston has made it to the ALCS for each of the last five seasons, and the Astros have won the pennant three times in the last five years. They were the AL’s top team once again in the regular season, and they have one of the most dangerous lineups in baseball. To maker them even scarier, Justin Verlander has been the best pitcher in the American League since his return from injury. This is the best rotation in the majors, and it will be very difficult to knock Houston out of the postseason. The Astros have the best value on the board among the favorites.
Defending World Series champions Atlanta got off to a slow start this season, but the Braves turned it on after the first six weeks and ended up running down the New York Mets to win the NL East. Although they don’t have Freddie Freeman any longer, Austin Riley has been one of the best hitters in the league, and center fielder Michael Harris II will be named NL Rookie of the Year. Dansby Swanson is having a career season, and this rotation has three standout arms in Max Fried, Kyle Wright, and rookie Spencer Strider.
Aaron Judge hit his 62nd home run on Tuesday to set the new AL single-season record. However, the New York Yankees have been a marginal team since the All-Star Break.
The Yankees were 64-28 over the first half of the season, but they managed to go just 35-35 over the second half of the campaign. New York has been pretty underwhelming at the plate aside from Judge as the only other player with an OPS over .800 is Anthony Rizzo. Gerrit Cole is an ace and Nestor Cortes has pitched very well, but there are concerns with this pitching staff too.
If you are looking for the best value on the board, it lies with the Tampa Bay Rays. They will be on the road for their Wild Card Series against the Cleveland Guardians, but the Guardians were the worst division winner in the majors. Tyler Glasnow recently returned after missing nearly the entire season, and Shane McClanahan was one of the AL Cy Young contenders. Corey Kluber has been reliable on the bump too, and the Rays know how to create just enough runs with their offense. The Rays would face the Yankees if they win this series, and they have had very good success against the Bronx Bombers in 2022.
