There is one chance remaining to hit a mid-week MLB parlay since September 25 is the last Wednesday of the 2024 regular season. Oh, we’ll still take our shots once the postseason begins, but we won’t have the opportunity to bet against the White Sox at that time. With several teams battling for a spot in the playoffs there are some important games on the slate. The NL West title is on the line when San Diego visits the Dodgers. The Mets and Braves tangle in a series that could determine the third NL wild card. It has nothing to do with the playoff scenario but the game between Texas and Oakland has some significance with this being the final series for the team in Oakland.

It was another bad week for my three-team MLB parlay last Wednesday with two of my wagers falling short. Backing a team going through a slump is never a good betting strategy and the Orioles cost me in their matchup with San Francisco. You expect a team as talented as the O’s to avoid a prolonged slump but unfortunately the Giants extended the misery with a 5-3 win. I never had a chance with the Nationals, who lost their game 10-0 to the Mets, who stayed hot. At least I avoided the ohfer when Cleveland beat Minnesota outright.
The Tigers closed the week with a win over the Orioles for their 11th victory in 14 games to move into a playoff spot. They’ve been the hottest team in MLB over the last few weeks and they’re buying what A.J. Hinch is selling. Pitching has carried the team through this successful stretch and with Tampa Bay lacking a high-powered offense I’m banking on Detroit coming away with a crucial win to keep their playoff run going.
Staying in the AL East the matchup between the Yankees and Orioles was a lot more appealing a few weeks ago. With the O’s slumping and New York hitting another gear the division title is out of the equation for the O’s. I don’t want to pick on a wounded animal but the Birds have serious concerns with their pitching and New York’s offense is one of the best with Aaron Judge and Juan Soto a lethal duo for any hurler.
My winning parlay comes to fruition when the Mets and Braves go OVER the total in their contest. There’s a chance Francisco Lindor returns to the lineup for this game giving the Mets more muscle in the lineup. The first 10 games of the season series split on the total, but when the clubs met in Atlanta earlier there were a lot of runs scored with all three games going above the closing total.

I missed my same game parlay last week when the Phils and Brewers fell short of the total. I did back Milwaukee in the 2-1 triumph, but the offense was lacking. I don’t think there’ll be shortage of offense in the NL West game between Arizona and San Francisco. The Dbacks lead MLB in runs and OPS and they’re second in average and fourth in home runs. Arizona won six of the first 10 meetings with the OVER going 6-2-1 in those games. The Dbacks have been scorching hot since the All-Star break and are battling for a wild card spot giving them extra incentive to beat a team they’ve had success against at home.
