San Diego Padres Over 93.5
The Padres could overtake the Dodgers this season in the National League West. San Diego has a very potent lineup that is simply ridiculous. They get Fernando Tatis Jr. back after he serves his 20 game suspension and he will add to a lineup that already has Juan Soto, Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts, Jake Cronenworth and Nelson Cruz. The starting rotation still has Yu Darvish, Joe Musgrove and Blake Snell and the bullpen features Josh Hader, Seth Lugo and Robert Suarez. I know expectations are high in San Diego, but it is hard to see anything other than a very successful season for the Padres. I’ll go over the total.
Chicago Cubs Over 77.5 Wins
I like what I have seen from the Cubs this spring, as they look like a much-improved club. It wouldn’t take much improvement for Chicago to go over this win total, as the Cubs won 74 games last season. Chicago went out and added Dansby Swanson, Cody Bellinger, Eric Hosmer and Trey Mancini to improve their lineup and they got Jameson Taillon to improve the rotation. There are questions about the rotation overall, but Chicago does have Taillon, Marcus Stroman and Justin Steele. The Cubs also benefit from playing in a weak NL Central that has Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. I’ll go over the total with the Cubs.
Arizona Diamondbacks Over 75.5 Wins
The Diamondbacks won 74 games last season and they look to be improved this year. They have some of the best prospects in baseball who could make an impact this season. Gunnar Henderson and Corbin Carroll should be with the team this season and they look like future stars. Arizona already has Ketel Marte, Christian Walker, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., and they took a flyer on former Mariner’s star Kyle Lewis. The pitching staff is led by Zac Gallen. The Diamondbacks could surprise this season and that means they go over their win total of 75.5.
Seattle Mariners Over 88.5
The Mariners had a successful season a year ago and yet they have a lower win total which is somewhat surprising. The Mariners won 90 games a year ago and if they do that again in 2023 they go over this win total of 88.5. The Mariners have a very good starting rotation of Robbie Ray, Luis Castillo, George Kirby, Logan Gilbert, and Chris Flexen and Seattle has a solid bullpen led by Paul Sewald, Diego Castillo and Andre Munoz. The Seattle lineup is led by superstar Julio Rodriguez and now the Mariners have added Teoscar Hernandez and Kolten Wong. There is no reason the Mariners can’t duplicate what they did last season and that means they go over their win total of 88.5.
