Colorado Rockies at Minnesota Twins MLB Betting

It’s too bad the Colorado Rockies don’t play NL West rival San Diego more often. They beat the Padres five times in the span of nine days while failing to post a win over another team. The Rox and Minnesota Twins enter this series with records below .500 in interleague play, which isn’t surprising for the last place Rockies. The Twins recently dropped two of three to Arizona in an interleague series and could use victories to stay in the hunt in the AL Central. The teams haven’t met since Colorado won two of three in the Twin Cities during in 2017. The visitors are scheduled to send Antonio Senzatela to the bump against Chris Archer in Saturday’s middle game of a three-game set.

First pitch for this interleague matchup between the Colorado Rockies and Minnesota Twins is set for 7:10 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 25, 2022. The game will air live on FOX from Target Field. BookMaker.eu will have betting options for every game of the MLB season.

Odds Analysis

A 9-8 loss to Miami on Tuesday put the Rockies at 5-6 during an 11-game stretch. The amazing thing is that all five wins came against San Diego, a club battling for first place in the NL West with one of the best records in baseball. This season has been a lot of the same for the Rox with a potent offense and not much pitching.

Playing in the thin air in Denver can turn the best hurlers into a quivering mess doubting every pitch they throw. It also helps skew the offensive numbers, but make no mistake there are guys who can rake. And an offense that averages more than 4.6 runs and leads MLB with a collective .262 average could get even better with the expected return of Kris Bryant this weekend. “When he’s Kris Bryant he’s our best offensive player. He does so many things well offensively it takes a lot of pressure off the other guys,” Bud Black said excitedly.

A loss to Cleveland on Tuesday dropped the Twins out of sole possession of first place in the AL Central for the first time in two months. It’s not that they’re playing poorly they just haven’t been able to string wins together. They won two straight just once since a five-game winning streak ended on May 24. The Twins are in the black nearly $300 on the moneyline, but they haven’t made a lot of coin at home.

The Twins have done a lot of things well this season helping them to a 38-31 record. They average nearly 4.5 runs while boasting a top-10 team batting average. They also rank in the top half of MLB in staff ERA and WHIP. The top of their order is one of the most exciting in baseball. Luis Arreaz leads MLB in average, Byron Buxton can bang dingers and Carlos Correa has caught fire after a slow start with his new team. This club can score against suspect pitching.

Probable Pitchers

The Rockies have had consistency in their rotation this season with five guys making all but seven starts. They just haven’t been very good. Antonio Senzatela (3-3, 4.42 ERA) is in line to start Saturday. While his ERA is in line with a guy who pitches half his games in Denver, the underlying numbers stick out. He averages fewer than 5.0 innings per start giving up 81 hits in 53.0 innings for a bloated 1.76 WHIP. He limits the damage allowing just four home runs with only one given up on the road.

Senzatela has been good recently, though, completing six innings in each of his last three starts with a 2.50 ERA. He’s exhibited better control issuing only four walks in that 18 inning stretch, but the hits kept coming. He’s been an oddity in that he’s only made three road starts this season and his numbers are worse than at Coors Field. He’s 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in 14.2 innings. The Rockies are 0-3 in Senzatela’s road starts.

A promising arm just a few years ago, Chris Archer (1-3, 3.44 ERA) is trying to regain that edge in his first season with the Twins. Just like his opposite starter, Archer hasn’t gone deep completing five innings just twice while not throwing more than 80 pitches in any game. His numbers are worse at Target Field, though, with an ERA a run and a half higher with a 1.48 WHIP. He’s allowed five runs over his last four starts with the UNDER 3-0-1 in those games.

Rockies at Twins MLB Odds Pick

It looks like this could be a bullpen game and neither team has been lights out in that area so I’m backing the OVER. And when the Rox don’t play San Diego they aren’t very good. Give the nod to the Twinkies on the moneyline.
