If the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets had their way they’d meet up again in the postseason with a trip to the World Series at stake. With over a month remaining in the regular season both are destined for the playoffs with the Dodgers holding on to the best record in baseball. A recent rough patch made things interesting in the NL East with the Mets losing ground to the Braves. They can get a huge jolt to their confidence with a win over the Dodgers on Tuesday when the clubs meet in the first of a three-game set.
First pitch for the NL matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets is set for 7:10 p.m. ET on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. The game will air live on TBS from Citi Field. BookMaker.eu will have betting options for every game of the MLB season.

Odds Analysis
While other teams have had spurts of exceptional play, the Dodgers have been consistently good all season. So good in fact, that when they lose it’s surprising. They really turned things on since the start of July winning over 80 percent of their games. They won their 85th game before any other team even got to 80, and there are some good clubs out there. We’ve seen this in years past from LA, though, and the season will be judged on how they do in the playoffs.
There’s no arguing that the Dodgers are the best team in MLB. With an offense that leads the majors in runs per game and OPS while ranking among the top-5 in average and home runs combined with a staff that boasts the best team ERA, the Dodgers are on another planet. And they dominated two of the best pitchers in the game last week battering Miami’s Cy Young hopeful Sandy Alcantara in a 10-3 win and tagging reigning Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes for seven runs in 3.2 innings in a 10-1 win over the Brewers. They’ve outscored opponents by a lot putting them nearly $3000 in the black on the runline thanks to their 76-46 record ATS.
The Mets know they can hang with the Dodgers after splitting a four-game series in LA earlier this season. At the time it was kind of a big deal. The Mets had a strong record but flops in recent years still had some doubting how good they actually were. They showed plenty of poise after losing the first two games and scoring only one run by plating 14 runs against the top staff to take the final two matchups.
Feeling some pressure from the charging Braves, the Mets need to settle down after 4-6 stretch that included back-to-back losses to the Yankees. There was some good news for the Metropolitans with Taijuan Walker returning following a brief injury absence. That will only bolster the rotation now that Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom are dealing. Walker is in line to start Tuesday’s opener.
Probable Pitchers
Tony Gonsolin (16-1, 2.10 ERA) wasn’t even on the board as a Cy Young candidate at the start of the season. Now he’s among the favorites to win it. You could say the former St. Mary’s College star came out of nowhere, but that wouldn’t be true. In his first three seasons Gonsolin went 10-5 with a 2.85 ERA over 142.1 innings. Still, what he’s accomplished this season is remarkable. He’s been lights out this month after enduring a few bad outings in July. Gonsolin tied Justin Verlander for the MLB lead in wins giving up one run on three hits in five innings in a 10-1 decision over Milwaukee. In four starts this month he’s given up just two runs over 23.2 innings for a 0.76 ERA and 0.72 WHIP. Opponents are batting .127 with a .350 OPS in that span. Back in June Gonsolin tossed six innings of two-hit shutout ball to beat the Mets 2-0.
During the first half of the season when Scherzer and deGrom were on the mend, Taijuan Walker (10-3, 3.38 ERA) was a big reason why the Mets took first in their division. He hasn’t been nearly as good in the second half with a 6.31 ERA in six starts, but he did win three of his first four starts in that span with his mates scoring at least six runs in all of them. He exited a start against Atlanta earlier this month with back tightness after tossing two shutout innings and returned with a strong game against the Mets giving up two runs on four hits in five innings. He was outdueled by Gonsolin in that earlier game in LA giving up two runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings.
Dodgers at Mets MLB Odds Pick
You have to like the Dodgers chances with Gonsolin on the bump. Not only has he won 94 percent of his decisions, the team is 19-4 in his starts. Even when he has a poor outing, which is rare, the Dodgers find a way to win. LA has tagged some of the better hurlers in the league in recent weeks with Walker not quite in that group giving the advantage to the visitors.
