The New York Yankees had such a blistering start to the season that a post All-Star break slumber hasn’t ruined their chances of winning the AL East. They are looking to find the consistency that had them as the best team in baseball before the pause and welcome the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday in the second of a four-game set that will air on TBS. Every game matters for the Twins in their battle for first place in the AL Central and they haven’t had a lot of success against the Yankees recently losing eight of the last 10 meetings.
First pitch for the AL matchup between the Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees is set for 7:05 p.m. ET on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. The game will air live on TBS from Yankees Stadium. BookMaker.eu will have betting options for every game of the MLB season.

Odds Analysis
As quickly as they fell behind in the division standings the Twins got right back in the race. They led the weakest division in baseball until Aug. 9 and dropped a season-high four games off the pace following a six-game losing streak. Showing just how quickly things can change, the Twins swept the Giants and won the first two games against Boston canceling out their losing skid while moving within a game of first place Cleveland. Not to look ahead or anything, but following this series with the Yankees, the Twins host the team formerly known as the Indians.
As is typically the case with a team six games over .500, the Twins have been good against lesser opponents. They are 25-11 combined against Oakland and division foes Kansas City and Detroit while struggling against some of the better teams going 0-10 against Houston and the Dodgers. And their home/road splits are alarming. Catch them at Target Field and the Twins win nearly 59 percent of the time. It’s a completely different story on the road with only 27 wins, the same amount as AL worst Oakland.
The best team in baseball during the first half of the season when they won almost 70 percent of their games, the second half has been equally bad for the Yankees. Injuries and stretches of bad play usually get in the way in a 162-game season and the Yankees have had their share. Jameson Taillon left his last start after taking a line drive off his arm putting another dent in the pitching staff with Nestor Cortes Jr., Luis Severino and Aroldis Chapman still out.
The Aaron Judge power surge has deflected a lot of the talk about the team’s post-break struggles. Since the pause the Yankees are just 15-23 with their division lead that was as high as 15 games down to seven over the Rays. And the Yankees get a tuneup in Tampa over the weekend ahead of this series. If they haven’t hit the panic button yet I doubt the Yanks will. They still have one of the top offenses in the game averaging five runs while leading MLB in homers. And all eyes will be on Judge as he chases the AL home run record.
Probable Pitchers
Joe Ryan has emerged as the ace of the staff leading the Twins in wins, innings pitched and strikeouts. He was impressive in 9-0 win over the Giants on Aug. 26 allowing only two hits with eight strikeouts over six innings. That start, however, came at Target Field where Ryan has been much better this season. In 12 home starts he’s 6-3 with a 2.69 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. Get him on the road and the numbers climb dramatically. In nine road starts the ERA is over five with more hits than innings pitched and a 1.30 WHIP. And opponents hit .266 against him, nearly 100 points higher in his road starts. In his last two road starts Ryan allowed 15 earned runs and six homers in 9.2 innings, ouch!
He may be a little more inconsistent than in previous seasons, but Gerrit Cole (10-6, 3.31 ERA) remains one of the top hurlers in the game. He won for the first time in seven starts with a typical Cole-like effort against the A’s allowing just one run on three hits with 11 strikeouts over 7.1 innings closing out August on positive note. Over his last four starts of the month he pitched to a 2.05 ERA with a 0.87 WHIP but had just one win to show for it. While Cole was holding up his end of the deal his teammates struggled getting blanked twice and scoring just five runs in that span. Cole was roughed up by the Twins in June allowing five homers among eight hits and seven earned runs in 2.1 innings, his second shortest start of the year.
Twins at Yankees MLB Odds Pick
It’s hard to bet against Cole and I expect him to continue his dominant run. I can also see the Yankees getting more production offensively now that Giancarlo Stanton has returned to the lineup after a lengthy injury absence. New York scored 10 runs in two of the three previous meetings with Minnesota and while they might not get that many, they will have enough to back their ace.
