2020 was more than a breakout season for the Minnesota Twins. It was a season of historic achievement. For only the second time in their history the Twins reached the 100-win plateau with a record of 101-61 as they won the American League Central for the first time since 2010. It was the best regular season in Minnesota since their 1965 pennant winning campaign. All told, the Twins improved their win total by 23 games and turned a massive profit for gamblers along the way. The only tarnish to it all was getting swept in three games by the New York Yankees in the American League Divisional Playoffs. Now the question for 2020 is if that was part of the growing process or a portent of things to come. Oddsmakers sense a bit of a Minnesota market correction with a win total of 92.5 to open the 2020 campaign.

2020 Minnesota Twins Win Total Odds at Bookmaker.eu: 92.5, -115 over, -115 under
The Twins took advantage of ambushing the three-time defending AL Central champion Cleveland Indians and the rest of a very bad division last year. Minnesota was a complete team but made such great strides that many are worried about getting too invested. Especially with a Cleveland team that will be ready for them in 2020. Gamblers have shown oddsmakers that they have a wait and see approach to Minnesota’s sustainability.
Manager Rocco Baldelli
It would be hard to fathom a more successful debut for a rookie manager than what Rocco Baldelli pulled off for the Twins in 2019. For leading the Twins to their best season in 54 years he became the youngest manager in history to win AL Manager of the Year honors. Now comes the difficult task of a repeat. One that gamblers are not certain of either way.
On the Hill
Number one starter Jose Barrios has been an AL All-Star the past two seasons and a regular in the rotation since 2017. Last year the right hander was 14-8 with a 3.68 earned run average and a WHIP of 1.22.
Right hander and number two starter Jake Odorizzi went 15-7 with a 3.51 earned run average and WHIP of 1.21 for the 2019 campaign. He was also an AL All-Star last season. Prior to last year his highest win total was 11 with the 2014 Tampa Bay Rays.
Closer Taylor Rogers was 2-4 with a 2.61 earned run average and 30 saves. His WHIP was 1.00 as he whiffed 90 batters in 69 innings for 2019. It was the first year as closer for Rogers.
At the Plate
Designated hitter Nelson Cruz had yet another monster season at the plate in his first year with the Twins. Cruz is a six-time All-Star that made his fame with the Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, and Seattle Mariners before arriving in Minnesota. Last year Cruz produced 81 runs, 26 doubles, 41 home runs, 108 runs batted in, .311 average, .639 slugging percentage and an OPS of 1.031.
The big offseason move was the acquisition of 2015 AL Most Valuable Player and three-time AL All-Star third baseman Josh Donaldson from the Atlanta Braves. Donaldson hit 37 home runs with 94 runs batted in last year. He is the one reason to NOT expect a Twins reversal for 2020.
2020 Minnesota Twins Win Total MLB Betting Odds Pick
Minnesota is a strong team but everything wen their way for 2020. It is reasonable to expect a correction. Even the oddsmakers can see it. The Twins should be just shy of the 92.5-win total on the board for 2020.
MLB Betting Odds Prediction: Minnesota Twins under 92.5 wins
