Following back to back appearances in the American League Championship Series in 2015 and 2016 the Toronto Blue Jays have fallen back into mediocrity. The Blue Jays are coming off their third consecutive losing season on the diamond and have posted four consecutive campaigns in the red on the MLB Betting Board. Not much is expected to change for the 2020 season. Gambling expectations are certainly low with Toronto opening at a win total of 75.5 for the upcoming year. Despite being owned by the Canadian conglomerate Rogers Communications, the Jays rank 20th for MLB payroll. Attendance is falling like a rock after peaking in 2016. Gamblers long ago tucked tail and ran from Toronto.

2020 Toronto Blue Jays Win Total Odds at Bookmaker.eu: 75.5, -115 over, -115 under
A big part of the problem that gamblers have with Toronto is that they play in the American League East. In a division that features the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays the rebuilding and money losing Blue Jays quickly get ignored. Furthermore, gamblers see nothing that points to potential success for the season ahead.
American League East
A major challenge in Toronto surpassing the win total of 75.5 is the division itself. The Yankees are a powerhouse expected to win it all with the Red Sox still good, though likely not great, and a Tampa Bay team coming off a wild card season. So right from the start the Blue Jays have a large portion of games against high quality contenders with proven track records.
On the Hill
Last year the Blue Jays ranked in the bottom third of Major League Baseball for earned run average and 28th for quality starts.
Left hander Hyun Jin Ryu arrives from the Los Angeles Dodgers to offer some hope as the new projected number one starter. Best of all he is coming off a career season for 2019. Jin Ryu was 14-5 with a 2.32 earned run average and WHIP of 1.01. He complied 163 strikeouts in 182.2 innings of work. For his efforts Jin Ryu was named an All-Star for the first time in his career.
Closer Ken Giles was one of the few standouts last year in a dismal Toronto campaign. Giles was 2-3 with 23 saves while posting a 1.87 earned run average and a WHIP of 1.00. He struck out 83 batters in 53 innings of work.
At the Plate
Certainly, third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr sparked plenty of excitement with Blue Jays faithful and Canadian baseball fans in general who fondly recall when his father starred for the Montreal Expos. As a rookie Guerrero complied 52 runs, 26 doubles, 15 home runs, 69 runs batted in, .272 average, and a .772 OPS. Toronto expects Guerrero to be their cornerstone player of the future.
Another budding star coming off a strong rookie season is shortstop Bo Bichette. In just 46 games Bichette confirmed that he would be a key component of Toronto’s future and the projected leadoff hitter for 2020. Bichette hit .311 with 32 runs, 18 doubles, 11 home runs, 21 runs batted in with an OPS of .930. Like Guerrero, Bichette has great bloodlines as the son of former Major League star Dante Bichette.
2020 Toronto Blue Jays Win Total Betting Odds Pick:
Toronto does have some quality players that offer hope for the future. But the present remains a problem, especially in the American League East. The Blue Jays will likely be better than last year even though it may not show in the win total.
MLB Betting Odds Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays under 75.5 wins
