These two juggernauts will face off in an intriguing interleague matchup this weekend in which the star power will be very high. Los Angeles has the top spot in the National League virtually wrapped up but the Yankees are battling others for seeding, so this series is an important one for them.

Odds Analysis
The Yankees have a record of 83-45 on the season. They lead the American League East by nine games and should have no problem winning it, but they are only a couple of games ahead of the Astros for the best record in the A.L. and want to claim that to have home field advantage in the playoffs. New York has lost three in a row but has been one of the most consistently strong clubs in the majors this season.
The Dodgers are just a tiny bit better at 84-44 and have a big lead over the Braves for National League supremacy. Los Angeles has a ridiculous plus-224 run-differential and has to be considered the title favorite at this point. The Dodgers have won seven of their past 10 games and have gone a crazy 50-16 at home, so they will be favored to win this series.
Probable Pitchers
The Yankees are scheduled to send left-hander James Paxton to the mound on Friday. He is 9-6 with a 4.53 ERA on the year but has stuff that is better than he has shown. The Dodgers are expected to send Hyun-Jin Ryu to the hill. He is the Cy Young front-runner with a 12-3 record and a 1.64 ERA.
On Saturday, Yankees veteran C.C. Sabathia is expected to take the mound. He is 5-7 with a 5.01 ERA and is no longer the star he used to be. The Dodgers will counter with right-hander Tony Gonsolin, who is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA this year and has only allowed one run in his past 10 innings.
In the series finale, it should be a titanic clash. The Yankees will send out Domingo German, who is 16-3 with a 4.15 ERA. The Dodgers will send out left-hander Clayton Kershaw, who is 13-2 with a 2.71 ERA. While German has been good this year, he is not at the level of Kershaw.
