I had so much success with last week’s MLB parlay picks that I thought I’d use the same format to see if we can continue the strong start. But as we all know information is a powerful weapon and the more stats and trends we get on players and teams there’s always the chance of over thinking our parlay picks. I’m not saying that I got lucky by winning my two opening weekend MLB parlays, but there’s always a bit of good fortune involved. In a strange scheduling quirk four teams will not play on Friday, April 5 leaving a total of 13 games on the MLB parlay slate. The three-game AL series between Minnesota and Cleveland in addition to the NL matchup between Miami and St. Louis will start on Thursday and continue over the weekend. That’s actually good news for the Marlins, who opened the season with losses in their first five games.

MLB Parlay Picks for Friday, April 5, 2024

The only blemish on my three-team parlay was a push on the total between the Yankees and Astros. That affected my payout since that one bet was wiped off the ticket. I got fewer winnings but that certainly beats the alternative. My other picks came through with the Orioles covering the run line in their 11-3 win over the Angels. I also backed the Tigers on the moneyline and they eked out a 1-0 win. Not bad for opening day.
This is a pivotal season for Detroit with the Tigers actually trying to improve and win ball games, unlike their weekend opponent Oakland. It almost seems like the A’s are trying not to be competitive making some questionable roster moves after losing four of their first five games. Detroit opened with a sweep of the White Sox and the staff tossed a pair of shutouts in their first four victories. Oakland’s offense isn’t going to frighten anyone so back the Tigers on the run line for better odds.
The Padres and Giants played a four-game set last weekend producing a total of 53 runs and cashing the OVER in all four. Both teams have question marks in the bullpen and day games in San Francisco tend to produce more offense which is why I’m leaning toward the OVER in this matchup. San Diego scored double figures twice in their first six games while the Giants allowed six or more runs in four of their first five outings.
We know the ChiSox are going to struggle this season as their rebuild enters the early stages. But guess what? So are the Royals and the Sox will be ecstatic to face a team closer to their level after entertaining the Braves. As long as they’re not completely crushed after one week of the season I like the Sox breaking through in this one.

I hit a same game parlay on opening day backing the Reds on the moneyline and OVER 9.5 against Washington. I cashed a winning ticket with Cincy’s 8-2 victory. It’s not going to like this all season so I’ll enjoy when it happens. The Braves felt they should have won the NL pennant last season instead of watching Arizona advance to the World Series. As a means of payback Atlanta will take out their frustrations against the DBacks. And I think it’s safe to assume Max Fried will have a better outing than last time out.
Fried last just two-thirds of an inning walking three on 43 pitches. He’ll be rested and eager to shut down Arizona, which has me backing the Braves and the UNDER in my same game parlay.
