Major League Baseball has a number of new series beginning on Friday, including matchups of division leaders as the Los Angeles Dodgers visit the Texas Rangers and the Atlanta Braves visit the Milwaukee Brewers. It is Apple TV+ night and their two games are the St. Louis Cardinals at the Chicago Cubs in a matinee and the San Diego Padres at the Detroit Tigers. ESPN+ has the game between the Braves and Brewers, while MLB Network will be showing the New York Mets at the Boston Red Sox. The Giants visit the Nationals on Friday night and it should be Alex Wood going for the Giants, while the Nationals send Jake Irvin. Wood has been pretty good for the Giants this season, as he is 4-3 with a 4.53 ERA, and he has been better on the road with an ERA just under three. Irvin has struggled for the Nats, as he is 2-5 with an ERA of nearly five. The Giants have been playing really well lately and scoring a lot of runs. I’ll take San Francisco and the game to go over as the first same-game parlay for Friday night.

White Sox/Twins Over 9.5 (-120)

The Minnesota Twins host the Chicago White Sox on Friday night and it should be Lance Lynn going for Chicago, while Minnesota sends Joe Ryan. Lynn is one of the most overrated pitchers in the league. He is 6-8 with an ERA of just over six. He usually does go five or six innings but he also usually gives up four or five runs. Ryan is 8-6 on the season with an ERA just under four. He has not been as good as he was early in the season, but he still usually goes five or six innings and allows two or three runs. I’ll take the Twins and the game to go over the total as the second same-game MLB parlay.

Pirates/Angels Under 8 (-110)

The Angels should have a good weekend series against a Pittsburgh team that is really struggling. The pitching matchup on Friday definitely favors the Angels, as they will be throwing Shohei Ohtani. He is 7-5 with a 3.50 ERA. He is not only an excellent pitcher; he is the best hitter in the league. He is simply the best player in Major League Baseball history. Unfortunately for Ohtani, his Angels are still unlikely to make the playoffs, so unless the unexpected happens and he gets traded, he will have to wait at least another year to win in the playoffs. The Pirates could be going with Johan Oviedo. He is 3-10 on the season but his ERA is not that bad at 4.53. I think this will be a Los Angeles win, so I’ll take the Angels and the game under the total.
