We begin the last month of the Major League Baseball regular season with some very important series in terms of playoff spots and a series between the two best teams in baseball, the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers. Friday night is Apple TV+ night and this week the two games are the Seattle Mariners at the New York Mets and the Tampa Bay Rays at the Cleveland Guardians. MLB Network has the matinee between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds and the big game between the Braves and Dodgers. Pitching changes wiped out most of our action on Wednesday and what action we did have was ruined by Kimbrel costing us a three-team parlay win. The Boston Red Sox visit the Kansas City Royals on Friday night and the Red Sox badly need to win this game and the entire series against the Royals. Boston is on the verge of being out of Wild Card contention, so this is a must-win series. The pitching matchup on Friday has James Paxton going against Jordan Lyles. Paxton is 7-4 with a 3.99 ERA, while Lyles is 3-15 with a 6.51 ERA. I’ll take the Red Sox and the game over the total.

The Blue Jays should have a good series this weekend against the Rockies, as Toronto’s offense should score a lot of runs. The pitching matchup on Friday night has Hyun Jin Ryu against Chris Flexen. Ryu is 3-1 on the season with a 2.25 ERA. Flexen has an ERA on the season of nearly seven. I’ll take the Blue Jays and the game over the total.

The Marlins are hanging around in the Wild Card race in the National League but they need to start stringing together some wins. They visit the Washington Nationals on Friday night and the pitching matchup favors Miami. They are sending Eury Perez, while the Nationals go with Jake Irvin. Perez is 5-4 with a 2.68 ERA, while Irvin is 3-5 with a 4.30 ERA. I’ll take the Marlins as the first team in the parlay.
The Tigers visit the White Sox in a matchup of two teams out of contention. The pitching matchup favors Detroit as they should be sending Eduardo Rodriguez who is 9-7 with a 3.21 ERA, while Chicago is going with Touki Toussaint who is 2-6 with a 4.85 ERA. I’ll take the Tigers as the second team in the parlay.
The final game in the parlay will be a total and I do this with some trepidation, as I have not done well on individual totals this season. The game between the Orioles and Diamondbacks sure looks like a good game to take over. The Orioles should be sending Cole Irvin who is 1-3 with a 4.78 ERA, while the Diamondbacks go with Zach Davies who is 1-5 with a 6.93 ERA. I’ll take the Orioles and Diamondbacks over as the last game in the parlay.
