Hitting a three-team parlay on opening day just set me up for disappointment. And I was disappointed with the outcome Wednesday’s losing ticket. My only winning pick on the three-teamer was backing the Rangers on the run line against Oakland. Offense is going to be an issue all season for the A’s, who were shutout three times in their first seven outings. And scheduled to face talented lefty MacKenzie Gore could keep the A’s low on the run count leading me to back the UNDER.
It’s been a rough start for the Astros, who dropped seven of their first nine games, including two in a row to the Rangers in Arlington last week. Houston recovered to take the final two games of that four-game set and host their AL West rival on FS1 Saturday at 4:05 p.m. ET. Ronel Blanco is scheduled to take the bump for Houston and he’s been unhittable this season. He blanked the Rangers on one hit over six innings in a 3-1 win and tossed a no-no before that. That’s enough for me to back the Stros on the moneyline.
The Marlins had a rougher start to the season losing their first nine games. They split their next four but they are far from being good. The Braves had a few blows, mainly the loss of ace Spencer Strider, but they recently swept NL pennant winner Arizona and have cleaned up on lesser teams in past seasons. To sweeten the odds I’m backing the Bravos on the run line.

You never know what you’re going to see on the diamond. There was a no-hitter already tossed and a number of incredible plays. And the Marlins won a game killing my Wednesday same game parlay. As long as they don’t meet in the postseason the Dodgers have owned their NL West rival to the south, and it doesn’t look like that’s changing any time soon. The Dodgers won nine of 13 games last year when the Padres were arguably a better team. LA still has concerns about its pitching staff, but the offense is deep with Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Will Smith all hitting over .300. The Padres have shown some pop as well coming back from an eight run deficit to beat the Cubs earlier in the week and reaching double figures in three of their first 15 games.
