One of the best rivalries in MLB and in all of sports resumes with NL East rivals Boston and New York squaring in the Bronx to get the Saturday, July 6 betting day started. It’s been a difficult few weeks for the Yankees who started their recent skid by losing the final two of a three-game set to the Red Sox. The Yankees lost 12 of 16 games since losing their spot as division leader to Baltimore. Proving that the season is a marathon and not a sprint, Houston is making a run at AL West leading Seattle. The Astros won for the ninth time in 11 games with Wednesday’s 9-2 win over Toronto moving them within two games of the first-place M’s. Backing hot teams and fading cold ones are always good moves when building a winning MLB parlay.
MLB Parlay Picks for Saturday, July 6, 2024
Mets ML
Reds RL
Blue Jays / Mariners UNDER
$100 to win $600
After my three-team MLB parlay slump continued with another loss last week, I’m taking the time to remind folks that my picks are just suggestions. The pitcher’s duel in St. Louis didn’t materialize and I lost the UNDER bet in a 9-4 Reds win. Not only did the Phillies fail to cover the spread they lost outright to the Marlins, 3-2. I did save face, though, with Cleveland winning at Kansas City. A little more than halfway through the season there’s plenty of time to make for the recent setbacks.
The Mets have played themselves into wild card contention by winning 14 of 19 games. Even when they sucked they dismantled the Pirates outscoring them 18-5 in a three-game sweep in mid-April. Of course those results don’t carryover, but the Mets are playing with a swagger and I like them on the moneyline in their matchup with the Buccos.
A losing team with a positive run differential always deserves a look. After their win over the Yankees on Wednesday, the Reds were four-games under .500 with a plus-17 run margin. One thing preventing Detroit from a better record is their 12-16 interleague mark making the Reds a strong pick against a faltering Tigers pitching staff. Back the home team on the run line.
If you back Seattle UNDER the total you come out a winner more than 57 percent of the time. The M’s are dismal offensively averaging 3.8 runs with the worst average in MLB at .218. They failed to score more than three runs in five straight following Wednesday’s 4-1 loss to Baltimore with the UNDER 4-1 in that span.
MLB Same Game Parlay
Royals ML
Royals / Rockies UNDER
$100 to win $225
I also failed on last week’s same game parlay when the Dodgers-Giants score reminded me of a football game. LA won, which was the good play, but the 14-7 verdict was well over the total, which was the bad move. Sometimes you just never know what’s going to happen on the diamond. I didn’t expect the Royals to stick around this long, but they took three of four from AL Central leading Cleveland last week and at the time of this writing they were the third wild card. If they are going to maintain that spot or even move up the standings beating teams like the Rockies is a must. They rank in the middle of the pack offensively while boasting a top 10 pitching staff and better numbers from the starting rotation. That’s going help my decision to back KC on the moneyline and the UNDER
