The 2024 Major League Baseball season gets underway on Thursday, March 28 with every team in action. As is always the case this early in the season there will be games impacted by weather so keep an eye on current conditions to make sure your bet is part of a winning MLB parlay. The lone interleague matchup has the defending champion Texas Rangers raising the banner before a matchup with the Chicago Cubs. It’s hard to determine if we learned anything after a month of spring training other than a club’s opening day roster. Everyday players were used sparingly and starting pitchers weren’t stretched very long. That said the offenses have an advantage at this point and we saw evidence of that in the South Korea games between the Dodgers and Padres when the clubs combined to score 26 runs in the second game of the two-game set. One team that flashed a decent offense during the spring was the Yankees, who added stud Juan Soto to go along with healthier Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo. And the good news is they’ll only have to face Framber Valdez for a few innings.
The Orioles take a dive into their successful last season adding front line starter Corbin Burnes. He debuts against the Angles on Thursday facing a lineup void of Ohtani. The Halos might be better but their pitching is still suspect, Mike Trout has spent most of the last three years on the injured list and they got fleeced by Anthony Rendon. I’ll back the Orioles on the run line at plus odds.
Finally, the White Sox waved the white flag last year going into a deep rebuild similar to what the Astros did before emerging as an annual threat. You might remember that cost Houston several years and a 100-loss seasons. The Sox aren’t reaching the pinnacle any time soon and this is an important campaign for the Tigers, who start with plenty of optimism backed by young arms including that of starter Tarik Skubal, who posted a 2.80 ERA with 102 strikeouts in 80.1 innings a season ago.
