With games every day and usually a lot of them, betting on Major League Baseball definitely has an upside. For instance, when you have a losing MLB parlay one day you can quickly make up for it. Keep in mind, though, that sportsbooks aren’t around to hand out money so expect to lose along the way. The first week of the season provided both highs and lows for me on my MLB parlays. On opening day I hit a two-teamer and a same game parlay getting started on a positive note. However I was unable to keep the momentum losing both parlays on Friday. I’ll look to get back in the win column on Wednesday, April 10 with 13 games on the MLB schedule to build a winning parlay. The Milwaukee Brewers have been a good straight up bet at the start of the season winning six of their first seven games. They visit NL Central rival Cincinnati for a 6:40 p.m. ET first pitch.

Friday was not a good day with all three of my parlay picks getting the big L. Maybe I’ll have better luck on Wednesday. Two weeks into the season we have a better idea of where teams stand, though betting on MLB is not an exact science. The Tigers beat Oakland 5-4 but failed to cover the 1.5 run line. I think it’s a good bet that the A’s will be the worst team and facing the defending champion Rangers on the road is a challenge. Texas had a good time against the A’s last season and it will continue. I’ll put the odds in my favor by backing the Rangers on the run line.
Colorado’s pitching staff isn’t as bad as they’ve been through the first 10 days of the season with an ERA hovering around 8.00. But the group isn’t good either. With their first seven games on the road you can’t blame the thin air in Denver and the OVER has been a popular pick cashing in six of their first eight games. The Rockies and DBacks played over the total in three of the four opening series games and there’s a good chance they do it again, which is why I’m backing the OVER.
I also like the Dodgers and think their offense is good enough to cover any shortcomings the staff might have. One hurler the team is relying on to carry the load is Bobby Miller, who was dominant in his first start then got rocked in his second. The dude can pitch, though, and he’s scheduled to go against the Twins, who haven’t done a lot offensively this year. And I don’t think Minnesota is breaking out of its slumber allowing me to confidently back LA straight up.

It has not been a good start for the Marlins as the last winless team in the bigs. And things don’t get easier with a trip to the Bronx to face the Yankees. It’s the perfect storm for the Bombers facing a team that surrenders a lot of runs. It’s a good time for Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton to bust out since both are hitting below .200 with one home run each through eight games. Despite the lack of production from those guys the Yankees still won six of those eight games and they could do much more with a few timely knocks.
