I had another bad week on my MLB parlays though I did hit on three of five individual wagers. Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way and I have to regroup for the 15-game slate on Wednesday, June 12. It’s hard not to include the Philadelphia Phillies on any MLB parlay since they boast the best record in the NL and are among the most profitable teams in baseball. The Phils’ bulge over second place Atlanta in the NL East is the largest of any division leader. The New York Yankees boast the biggest run differential in MLB and visit the surprising Kansas City Royals, who are on the heels of Cleveland in the AL Central. The Guardians are involved in the Ohio Cup battle with the Cincinnati Reds while trying to maintain their division lead. The Yankees, Guardians, Phillies and Royals are the four biggest money-makers in MLB with each more than $1,000 in the black for the season.

I now know better than to pick the Padres when they’re playing a team they should beat. A loss to the Angels last week cost me a winning three-team MLB parlay. A few weeks ago they were swept at home in a three-game set by Colorado and they dropped all three to the Halos. That one stung because I backed the Yankees on the run line in their 9-5 win over Minnesota and had the Cubs outright in their 7-6 win over the White Sox. It’s called gambling for a reason.
If the scheduled pitching matchup takes place I’m backing the UNDER in the Astros-Giants tilt. In today’s MLB a good bullpen is needed with starters going about six innings then turning it over. It’s a different story in this game with Houston’s Framber Valdez coming off a complete game 4-hitter against the Angels. SF’s Logan Webb routinely goes seven innings and has allowed two runs or fewer in 10 of his 14 starts with a 2.95 ERA.
A 7-game winning streak vaulted the Reds into second place in the NL Central yet they were still a game under .500 following Saturday’s win over the Cubs. As they say all good things come to an end and the Reds take on a buzzsaw in the Guardians, who continue to lead the AL Central scoring the third-most runs per game with clutch hitting. Jose Ramirez leads MLB in RBIs belting 18 home runs. I have to back the team formerly known as the Indians in the Ohio Cup.
Showing no signs of letting up the Phillies visit Boston looking to continue their dominant play. They may be fatigued from their trip to London, but playing the Red Sox should inspire them. The Sox enter the series four games below .500 at Fenway Park while the Phils win nearly 65 percent of their road encounters. And I have to take my own advice.

My mini heater on same game parlays came to an end last week so I’ll just have to start a new one. After a spell of poor play the Dodgers appear to be back in good shape after blasting the Yankees 11-3 on Saturday. Six starts into his return from TJ surgery Walker Buehler should start to settle in. LA has a strong bullpen so starters don’t have to worry about going deep. And Buehler is still restricted, but he admits his stuff is good and velocity is up. That’s bad news for the Rangers, who are still experiencing the World Series hangover.
