Not that I have anything in common with MLB’s best hitters and pitchers since I never played organized baseball following my little league days. But those players go through slumps every so often so I guess I can compare my recent MLB parlay wagers to those stretches of poor play. I had another dud last week but will continue to push forward with a strong slate of games on the menu for Wednesday, June 19. One of the best matchups is between division leaders in the AL with the West’s Seattle Mariners visiting the Central’s Cleveland Guardians. The team formerly known as the Indians boasts one of the best home records in MLB while the M’s have a hard time hitting their way out of a wet paper bag. I won a few wagers backing the Phillies during their hot streak but they’ve cooled and are a .500 team since the start of the month.

Timing is everything as they say. And last week’s parlay was a day late. I haven’t hit a three-teamer in a while and last week may have been the worst with all three wagers losing. Had I made the same bets a day earlier, though, I would have cashed a winning ticket. Oh well, that’s why it’s called gambling and not winning.
The Cardinals are playing good baseball after a sluggish start climbing into second place in the NL Central. They have a ways to go to catch Milwaukee but they’re closer now than they’ve been. The Cards took two of three from the slumping Cubs over the weekend giving them four wins in five games. Pitching has been strong holding opponents to three runs or less in six of seven games entering the week. And the Marlins are exactly an offensive juggernaut so backing the visitors on the run line is my play.
Prior to Sunday the Guardians had cashed the UNDER in nine of their previous 11 games. Send them against a Seattle staff that’s among the best in baseball, especially the starters, and this encounter between division leaders has UNDER written all over it.
The AL East showdown between the Orioles and Yankees should also be entertaining. The Bombers own the best record in MLB but the O’s are nipping at their heels and won three of four games in an earlier series holding the Yankees to a total of six runs.
However, two Baltimore pitchers who started in that series are on the IL and the Yanks have gotten hot offensively since then. The duo of Juan Soto and Aaron Judge is scary and the Yankees will look to get some revenge from the earlier takedown.

Things were so bad last week I couldn’t even hit a two-wager same game parlay. I backed the Dodgers at home against Texas on the moneyline and the UNDER. I got the latter right but missed when LA lost 3-2. They have the fewest wins in baseball and it seems like I bet against the White Sox in every one of those games. If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result I must be insane since I’m backing Houston on the moneyline. The Astros need to win games like this to have any chance of making a run and their lineup should be intact with Kyle Tucker expected back by this game. Combine that with the inability of both teams to prevent runs and the OVER looks like a strong bet as well.
