The action gets started early on Wednesday with the Pirates at the Tigers on MLB Network. It is getaway day for some teams on Wednesday so that means we have a number of matinees. ESPN+ will televise the Diamondbacks at the A’s in one of those matinees. ESPN+ also has a night game, as they will televise the game between the Yankees and the Blue Jays. MLB Network will feature the game between the Mariners and Red Sox in the evening. We have had a lot of success so far this season with the MLB parlay picks and we’ll look to keep it going on Wednesday. Let’s look at Wednesday, May 17 MLB parlay picks.

MLB Parlay Picks for Wednesday, May 17, 2023
Phillies-Giants Over 8.5 (-115)
New York Yankees -115
Houston Astros -140
$100 to win $500
Phillies-Giants Over 8.5
The Philadelphia Phillies visit the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday in one of the matinees and it should be Taijuan Walker going against Sean Manaea. There has not been much to like about either of these pitchers this season. Walker is 3-2 with a 5.75 ERA. Manaea has been even worse with a 1-2 record and a 7.96 ERA. I was tempted simply to take the Phillies in this game, but I don’t trust Walker enough to do it. I think the safer way to go is to simply play this game to go over the total. I’ll go over the total with the Phillies and Giants as the first game in the parlay.
New York Yankees
One of the marquee matchups on Wednesday has the New York Yankees visiting the Toronto Blue Jays. It is a high-profile pitching matchup with Gerrit Cole going against Chris Bassitt. Cole has been one of the top pitchers in the league this season with a 5-0 record and a 2.22 ERA. Bassitt is coming off his best performance in a long, long time, as he shut out the Braves last time out giving up just two hits. While that start was excellent, I don’t know that I am completely sold on Bassitt. Atlanta has started to struggle a bit lately so we’ll see if Bassitt has truly turned the corner. What we do know is that Cole has been excellent. I’ll take the Yankees as the second team in the parlay.
Houston Astros
The Cubs visit the Astros on Wednesday night and it should be Drew Smyly getting the start for Chicago, while the Astros send J.P. France. Both pitchers have been successful this season, as Smyly is 4-1 with a 3.05 ERA, while France is 1-0 with a 0.77 ERA. I have to admit that I am surprised that Smyly is doing so well, as he hasn’t been anything more than a journeyman pitcher throughout his career. I expect a regression is coming soon for Smyly. France has been outstanding in his start starts, he gave up no runs in five innings to Seattle and then gave up just one run in 6.2 innings against the White Sox. I’ll back the Astros at home as the last team in the parlay.
