Entering last weekend, the Chicago White Sox were the worst team in MLB with only six wins. Half of that win total came just over a week ago when the Sox swept a three-game series from Tampa Bay. The clubs wrap up their season series in the finale of a three-game set in one of 15 games on the slate for Wednesday, May 8. I lost a MLB parlay betting against the Sox last week, but overall that’s been a profitable strategy. The New York Yankees have been at or near the top of the AL East all season and it started with a four-game sweep of the Astros in Houston. The teams are back at it in the Bronx with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. The Astros have picked things up lately starting with a two-game sweep of Colorado in Mexico where they scored 20 runs rebounding from a pitiful 7-19 start.

Just to show you how fickle things are, I failed on all three picks on last week’s MLB parlay. The same picks that lost on Wednesday would’ve gotten me a three-team winner if made a day earlier. Oh well, that’s how things go when you assume the risk. It’s never a good idea to lament what could have been but rather look forward to what can be. And we have another chance to cash a MLB parlay with every team taking the diamond.
The Minnesota Twins climbed into contention in the AL Central thanks to a 12-game winning streak. The hottest team in baseball won those games without much fanfare and the first 10 wins in the run came against the White Sox and Angels, not exactly the top teams in MLB. Yet they still won the games scoring at least five runs in 10 of them and reaching double figures three times. The Mariners soared to the top of the AL West behind a pitching staff that’s allowed the second-fewest runs and they aren’t the Sox or Angels which is why I’m backing the visitors.
On paper the game between the Dodgers and Marlins is a mismatch. However, the games aren’t played on paper. LA won nine of 11 games following a 2-7 stretch with the former more indicative of who they are. They have a tough top of the lineup leading to one of the games top offenses and the staff has been decent. The Marlins have underwhelmed and started purging the roster with an imminent rebuild making things worse before they get better.
Lastly, I’m not sure anyone expected the Nationals to be a .500 team through their first 32 games and the Orioles are doing what most expected. Both clubs are solid on the bump and with Kyle Bradish expected to start for the O’s I like the UNDER in this matchup.

I just missed on my same game parlay last week in the Dodgers 8-0 win over Arizona. I had LA on the moneyline and OVER 8.5 runs. It was a bad time for the Dbacks to get blanked for the second time. Seven wins on a recent 10-game road trip lifted the Phillies to the top of the NL East with Zack Wheeler playing a significant role. Over his last three starts he’s allowed just one earned run and the Phils are unbeaten in that stretch. The Blue Jays have underachieved and with Philly’s ace on the hill I’ll back the Phillies and the UNDER in my same game MLB parlay.
