If the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox have a weekend series on the schedule, there’s a good to great chance the game will air on Sunday Night Baseball. Guess what? The teams are hooking up this weekend and SNB is jumping at the chance to show this rivalry matchup despite the teams being on opposite ends of the AL East standings. The Bombers have slumped a bit recently losing eight of 10 entering the series, but they hope to find their mojo against a team they blasted by a combined score of 27-3 in the last two meetings. The Sox dropped five of six games and currently reside in the division basement as the only AL East team with a losing record.
First pitch for this AL East contest between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox is set for 7:08 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 14, 2022. The game will air live on ESPN from Fenway Park. BookMaker.eu will have betting options for every game of the MLB season.

Odds Analysis
Should we be concerned over the recent Yankees skid? It’s hard to say since they were so good during the first half of the year at one point being on pace to break the MLB record for wins. Still, the Bombers are 30 games over .500 leading the division by 10 games, though they have fallen behind the Astros for the top spot in the AL.
A big issue since the All-Star break has been their play on the road. While the Yankees win more than 73 percent of their games at home they are just 30-26 on the road after dropping 10 of 13 away games since the pause. They won just once in the first six games of this current trip dropping consecutive games to Seattle scoring a total of three runs. Despite that the Yankees have one of the top offenses in the game averaging nearly 5.3 runs while leading MLB with 190 homers. They won six of the first 10 meetings in the season series scoring at least 12 runs in each of their last three wins while cashing the OVER in seven straight.
It looks like the Sox have thrown in the towel, though it won’t stop them from wanting to get the best of the Yankees. After going 20-6 in June the Sox were poised to make a run in the division or at least contend for one of three wild card spots. Well, that plan was scrapped. They are within striking distance for the final playoff spot, but the way the Sox have played getting there seems like a longshot. After beating Houston twice at the start of August, the Sox dropped five of their next six games allowing at least five runs in five of them falling to 54-57. Pitching has been an issue and it’s not going to get better now that Chris Sale has been shut down for the year.
Probable Pitchers
The Yankees have won 63.4 percent of their games on the season entering this series and that percentage goes even higher when Jameson Taillon (11-2, 3.95 ERA) is on the bump. The righty hasn’t done anything extraordinary on the mound with an ERA just under 4.00 and a 1.14 WHIP, but the Yanks give him plenty of run support allowing them to win 77 percent of his starts. Taillon was effective last time out giving up three runs on three hits, including a pair of homers, over seven innings in a 9-4 win over Seattle. They scored five or more runs 14 times in his 22 starts going over the total in five of his last six outings. Taillon was the beneficiary of a 14-run outburst in his last start against the Sox but he pitched well allowing just two hits and one run over six innings. He’s 3-0 with a 3.45 ERA over his last five starts against the Sox.
A makeup game against Baltimore on Thursday throws a wrench in the situation, but if things go according to plan the Sox will likely turn to Rich Hill (4-5, 4.75 ERA) in the finale. The veteran lefty has been ineffective in his last three starts posting an 8.49 ERA and 1.80 WHIP over just 11.2 innings with the Sox losing every game. Hill allowed seven hits and four runs over four innings against Atlanta last time out and will make his first start against the Yankees this season. In 14 lifetime appearances, including six starts, against the Bombers he’s 4-2 with a 3.52 ERA and 1.30 WHIP.
Yankees at Red Sox MLB Odds Pick
Despite their place in the standings the teams always get amped to play each other. Unfortunately for the Sox they just don’t have the horses to compete. I’m not too concerned about the Yankees since it’s hard to maintain a high level of play throughout an entire season. I do expect the intensity to return this weekend in what should be a wild game on Sunday night.
