It’s all worthwhile when you hit a multi-team parlay like I did last week earning almost $600 on a $100 investment. I’ll try and continue the heater on Friday with a good slate of NBA games to pick from. I started out backing the Lakers at home against Toronto. Catching 3-points on the closing line LA won outright 122-112. I also took the OVER in Denver’s matchup with San Antonio... 

The New Orleans Pelicans let us down over the weekend. New Orleans could have moved into playoff position with a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, but instead they lost by 14 points. The Western Conference is an absolute mess with a month to play in the regular season now as six teams are either 34-34 or 33-35 as of Monday morning. It’s very likely that the Denver Nuggets end up with the No. 1 overall seed in the West, but everything else is a crapshoot at the moment.... 

Despite losing to Charlotte on Tuesday night, the New York Knicks are one of the hottest teams in the NBA. Prior to that setback the Knickerbockers had won nine games in a row and 11 of their last 12 while going 10-1-1 ATS in that span catapulting up the Eastern Conference standings. So, are they a lock to take down the Lakers on Sunday? The last game on the March 12 schedule is ... 

It’s not easy to hit NBA parlays, and I’m still looking to claim my first win after the All-Star Break. I went 1-1 on my Wednesday night Parlay, hitting with the Cleveland Cavaliers but missing with the Toronto Raptors. Hopefully, I can finally cash one of these over the weekend as there is a rather big slate to choose from with ten games on the schedule. ...

With the trade deadline having passed and the All-Star festivities concluded, it’s back to work for teams fighting for a playoff spot and/or positioning. That means games take on added importance as we have only about six weeks left in the regular season. Surprisingly more than half the teams in the league have Saturday off leaving us fewer betting options on our NBA parlay picks. Despite that we have some intriguing matchups that give us a great chance at cashing a winning ticket. The biggest game on the docket features the league-leading Boston Celtics visiting Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers in a battle of Eastern Conference powerhouses. The game is likely to take in a big haul at the betting window and those who wager can watch how they do with the game nationally televised on ABC in primetime. Not to be outdone the Western Conference has an intense game with No. 1 seeded Denver visiting No. 2 seed Memphis. At this point it appears to be a two-team race and the Nuggets can further separate themselves with a win. The Nuggets have a 5-game bulge over the Griz with third-place Sacramento eight games back. Most players will have had a full week off to rest, so everyone should be as ready for the stretch run as they are going to be at this point. We know the captains. We know the players. However, we don’t know who will be playing with who when the NBA All-Star game tips off on Sunday. Most of the event has remained the same with this being the sixth year of the current format that has team captains selecting their roster through a draft process. As leading vote-getters in their respective conference, LeBron James (West) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (East) will serve as captains. New this year is the player draft taking place just before the scheduled start of the game making betting choices a bit more difficult. Still, it’s just an exhibition and you should take your wagering as seriously as the players take the game. James has enjoyed plenty of success as captain in the current format picking the winning roster in each of the last five years. Most of the league will be in action on Wednesday night. This will be the last game for most teams prior to the All-Star Break, and there are some teams that are really looking forward to the time off. Injuries have taken their toll on teams, and other teams just want some time to mentally recuperate after frustrating seasons. As the trade deadline was last week, the break will give teams extra time to incorporate their new players into their lineups too, and that could give teams that made lots... 

If you think one key player can’t sway oddsmakers you didn’t see what happened to the Dallas Mavericks’ 2023 championship odds after acquiring Kyrie Irving before the NBA trade deadline. Prior to the deal the Mavs were sitting around 25/1 but moved to +1785 on the odds board afterwards. Playing a parlay card works in other sports as well. With the close of the NFL season following Super Bowl LVII we can turn our attention to another popular betting sport: basketball, in particular the NBA. With a third of the regular season remaining the races are tightening up in both conferences with a bunch of teams battling for postseason positioning. We can say with certainty that only a handful of teams are out of the running. That leaves roughly 13 teams in each conference vying for the 10 postseason spots, and clubs would like to avoid the play-in scenario if possible. With games taking on more importance another thing to consider when wagering on the NBA is how teams approach the trade deadline. We saw the Dallas Mavericks make a move to upgrade for a push in the West by acquiring Kyrie Irving. And that will certainly affect the Nets, who are still without Kevin Durant. Brooklyn lost two straight after the deal was announced but they covered the spread in both games improving to 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games. Things are heating up around the NBA with a number of teams still in playoff contention and others looking to improve their chances ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline. The Dallas Mavericks made a splash by acquiring Kyrie Irving from Brooklyn and there will certainly be more action setting up Friday’s schedule for some teams that will have a different look. Scouting personnel and trends are huge when it comes to wagering on the NBA and more important when playing a parlay card. Teams thought to be active ahead of the deadline square off on Friday when the Utah Jazz visit the Toronto Raptors. The Raps have underachieved, though they did finish off a successful road trip with back to back wins over Houston and Memphis leaving them tied with Indiana for the final play-in spot. That likely won’t be enough to prevent management from blowing up the squad. Stalwarts Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet are rumored to be on the block with Utah having several assets teams covet. Because of the possible shakeup this is a game to avoid on the parlay card. There are games worth playing, but before we get into those we need to know who’s playing. ... 

We are nearing the two-thirds mark of the NBA regular season, and the NBA All-Star Game is two weeks away. The Western Conference is still very much up for grabs, and that could lead to a lot of movement at the trade deadline on February 9. The Dallas Mavericks already pushed their chips into the middle of the table with their decision to trade for Kyrie Irving, and it will be interesting to see who else follows suit over the next few days. Conversely, the future NBA betting odds for this week can be gamed a little bit if you have a good idea of who is going to be a seller at the trade deadline. Those teams might sit all their trade assets the next few days in order to not risk injury, so that is the angle we are looking at on Wednesday night. That means the best bet on the board might be the San Antonio Spurs as a moderate road underdog by the basketball betting line to the Toronto Raptors. Toronto is expected to be the biggest seller at the trade deadline and three of its best players could be gone. ...

The Boston Celtics have one last chance to avenge a loss to the Golden State Warriors in last season’s NBA Finals and to make up for a defeat earlier in the campaign when the clubs conclude the season series Thursday inside the TD Garden. Since a nine-game winning streak back in November, the Celtics have topped the NBA standings. Golden State’s inability to win on the road has kept them hovering around .500, though they started their current trip with two wins in three games nearly matching their road win total from the previous 19 games.
