There is an old political adage that goes “perception is reality.” That is certainly the case now with the emergence of Joe Biden as the front runner for the Democrat nomination. While the Democrats and their sock puppet “journalists” in the US news media will breathlessly rush to tell you that Biden is a “moderate” that facts don’t bear that out whatsoever. Yet the Democrat Party establishment commanded a full candidate consolidation around Biden to stem off the charge from what is considered to be the hard-left socialist upstart Bernie Sanders. Except there is one slight problem. There ain’t much difference between the two.

Lifetime ACU Voting Scores
Judging from a reasonable scale a true Democrat “moderate” would vote roughly half the time with the conservatives. Or at least be in the neighboring area code. Yet Joe Biden has a lifetime American Conservative Union voting score of 12.67. That means Biden votes against the conservative position over 87 percent of the time. By contrast Bernie Sanders has an ACU score of 6.78. Hardly surprising but really not much different than Biden. Yet Biden is being sold as a “moderate.”
Uncle Joes Emerges from the Attic
After flopping miserably in both 1988 and 2008 as a candidate for the Democrat Presidential nomination, Joe Biden was outed for plagiarism and being an embarrassing gaffe machine. Even Democrats conceded that he came off as the crazy uncle that the family loves but hides in the attic. Time and again Biden frustrated Barack Obama in the 2008 campaign for his loose cannon style and tendency to step into the muck. The normally cool and measured Obama reportedly blew his stack over the perpetual gaffes of his running mate.
The Designated White Guy
In 2008 Obama was the Democrat nominee that had the hardest left voting record in American history for a Presidential candidate. While Biden was not far behind in that category his demeanor makes it easy to attain the shallow and totally misleading label of being “moderate.” Obama had to balance out the image of his ticket so he chose an old white male that was a stark contrast to his own carefully cultivated style of being young, black and hip. Obama, like the rest of the Democrats, had little if any respect for Biden. In essence he found Biden to be a useful gasbag.
The Media Carries the Water
Anyone can get on the internet to quickly fact check the truth about Biden’s hard-left politics and voting record. His enthusiastic support of radical left Supreme Court justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan, and Sonia Sotomayor should immediately disqualify him of the term “moderate.” Furthermore, this past December he clearly stated that he is willing to sacrifice blue-collar jobs for the environment. That is a position not only unmoderated, but is Obama and Sanders hard-left. And yet the “news” media is trying to peddle that Biden will take back blue-collar states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin that depend on such work.
Trump’s Week
President Donald Trump continues to face the coronavirus crisis with messaging that has been inconsistent. While the crisis is not his fault the media and Democrats are enthusiastically trying to pin it on him and also come off as thrilled with the recent economic chaos because of it. Trump must show greater consistency in the face of the challenge that is currently decimating the stock market.
