A Small Bump for Trump
In the immediate aftermath of the assassination attempt, wild X-posts and comments were saying that the race was over and Trump had won the election. But the polls show that Trump gained a couple of points, at least so far, and that the race remains tight. Trump indeed gained some in the battleground states where the election will be decided and has made some Democrat states competitive. Still, the fact remains that the United States is a badly divided country with only a small portion of the electorate undecided and willing to move.
The election is just under four months away. Any Republicans spiking the football are foolishly doing so at the 50-yard line. They say a week is an eternity in American politics. Four months in such a bitterly divided country and with a gaslighting left wing media fanning the flames will make for hell on earth. Also, there is no guarantee Joe Biden will be the Democrat nominee. The Democrats, like a good mafia chief, may make Biden an offer he can’t refuse to step aside.
JD Vance Tapped for VP as Trump Doubles Down on MAGA Agenda
Once upon a time, JD Vance was an avowed “Never Trumper.” But as Vance says, Trump won him over through policy. Vance is known for writing a book about his days growing up in despair in abandoned white working-class factory towns. His story is an inspiration. He went into the Marines, graduated with honors from Ohio State, and then got a law degree from Yale. His resume is one of excellence, substance, and achievement. In comparison to Kamala Harris, who needed to have an affair with a married man old enough to be her grandpa to clear the field, the Democrats should be ashamed. But shame is something they have never had.
Trump believes that Vance will appeal to the white working class and young people who are miserable in a Biden and Democrat economy that offers them no hope.
Thursday Night Speech Will Move Numbers
Donald Trump will make his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention Thursday night. After the assassination attempt, Trump said he pitched his fire and brimstone “humdinger” that was to attack the Democrats for their corruption and failures. While those points still need to be made, Trump intends to focus on a unity speech.
The riddle is how to unite half the country that hates Trump, many of whom celebrated the attempt to murder him and who want to continue the divisive and destructive Biden policies. Still, to much of the country, Trump’s call for unity will serve as a Disneyland diversion that will move the polls his way, at least some and temporarily.
