Barcelona has locked up its 26th La Liga title (and fourth in five years), but there is still plenty of drama going into the last week of the Spanish domestic campaign. The fourth Champions League spot in La Liga is up for grabs, and the final Europa League spot is in play too. There’s even a slight chance for some drama in the bottom three, so we will still see some drama on the last weekend of La Liga.

Alaves have completely fallen apart after being in the running for a spot in European competition for much of the season. They have not won a league match since beating cellar dwellers Huesca 3-1 in mid-March, so there’s a chance that Girona can get the big win it needs in order to survive. In order to remain in La Liga, Girona must win this match, see Celta Vigo lose, and make up seven goals of goal differential in the process. The odds are large considering Girona are one of the lowest scoring teams in the league with just 36 goals to their name, but at least they have a chance.

This has the potential to be the best game of the week. Sevilla are locked in to a spot in Europe, and they could earn a spot in the Champions League by finishing fourth if they win this match while Getafe and Valencia both lose or draw. Meanwhile, Bilbao are currently set to finish seventh and earn a spot in the Europa League next year, but they need a result to ensure their place. They have a negative goal differential and both Real Sociedad and Espanyol are within striking distance.

The Yellow Submarine have finally turned it on, and they won’t be a pushover for Getafe. Villarreal are 4-1-1 in their last six La Liga matches, with the lone loss being a 3-2 loss to Real Madrid in the Bernabeu. Getafe are dead even with Valencia on points for the final Champions League spot, so they need to get a win here and hope that Valencia don’t win as that club has the head-to-head tiebreaker.

It’s pretty awesome that the two teams fighting to catch Athletic Bilbao for a spot in the Europa League are squaring off on the last day of the season. Both sides need to win and then have Bilbao lose in order to potentially win a tiebreaker, and while Espanyol are playing at home, Real Sociedad are seen as the better team after winning three straight matches. The hosts have secured a result in eight straight games though, and they hammered Atletico Madrid 3-0 two weeks ago.
