Longhots can do well in the Valero Texas Open, as last year’s winner Bhatia went off at odds of 75-1. When Spaun won in 2022 he went off at odds of over 100-1. That being said, favorites can win this event, as Spieth won this tournament as the favorite four years ago and Jimmy Walker was a popular choice in 2015 and Adam Scott was the favorite in 2010. Ludvig Aberg is the favorite to win the 2025 Valero Texas Open at odds of +1200. He is listed just in front of Tommy Fleetwood at +1400 and Corey Conners at +1800. Perhaps this is finally the week when Fleetwood gets his first PGA Tour win. The TPC San Antonio opened in 2010 and the Oaks course was designed by Greg Norman with Sergio Garcia acting as a consultant. The Oaks course features narrow fairways and deep bunkers. The rough can also be extremely difficult to navigate, as Kevin Na took a 16 on the par-4 ninth hole in 2012.

Low scores are the norm in this event, and the 72-hole PGA Tour scoring record was set in 2003 by Tommy Armour III when he shot -26 under par. A number of marquee names have won this event including Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan and Sam Snead.
The event is the third-oldest on the PGA Tour and the sixth-oldest pro golf tournament in the world. The tournament was moved to the current site at the TPC San Antonio in 2010.
