2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Props

Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is the favorite to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award heading into the 2024 NFL season. Williams was the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and it already being touted as the franchise quarterback for the Bears. It was just three years ago that the Bears touted Justin Fields as their franchise quarterback and he is now in Pittsburgh. Williams will have a major advantage over Fields, however, as the supporting cast for Williams is much better than what Fields had. The second choice in the NFL betting odds behind Williams is Jayden Daniels, who should be the starting quarterback in Washington.

Let’s look at NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds and picks.

Favorites

I don’t like to bet favorites that often but it is hard to get past Williams as the clear choice to win this award. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2022 with USC and even though he wasn’t as good last year, his supporting cast with the Trojans was weaker. Chicago made a number of moves in the off-season to upgrade their supporting cast around Williams. They added Keenan Allen from the Chargers and also added tight end Gerald Everett and running back D’Andre Swift.

Other Contenders

Once you get past Williams there are three other players who are listed at odds between +500 and +1000. They are Jayden Daniels, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers. Daniels went as the 2nd overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU to the Washington Commanders. Daniels won last year’s Heisman Trophy. Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr was the 4th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He won the Big Ten Most Valuable Player Award and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Award last season. Nabers went sixth in the 2024 NFL Draft to the New York Giants. He played for LSU and is their all-time leader in receiving yards.

NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Picks

As I said previously, I don’t like betting favorites, but it would be hard for Williams to screw things up in Chicago. The Bears went out and splurged in the off-season to get him plenty of weapons and there is simply no excuse for Williams not winning this award. He probably should be listed as the odds-on favorite and not at plus money.

I was never a big fan of Daniels in college, but he is going into a decent situation in Washington. The Commanders have some talent on offense led by wide receiver Terry McLaurin and they also went out and brought in running back Austin Ekeler. I didn’t like Kliff Kingsbury as a head coach, but he can definitely coach offense and he is the new offensive coordinator in Washington.

I want no part of a receiver winning this award and I can’t see Harrison Jr. or Nabers doing enough to even get on the radar. They also have the dubious distinction of having Kyler Murray and Daniel Jones throwing to them. I think it is worth noting that a quarterback has won this award in 10 of the last 20 seasons.

If you are going to pick a longshot then I guess you have to go with J.J. McCarthy in Minnesota. I know that Sam Darnold will probably start the season as the starter, but Darnold isn’t any good and McCarthy should take over sooner rather than later. He could make a run at the award in the second half of the season.
