When these teams met 11 days ago, 60 minutes wasn’t enough to decide the affair. The Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers were tied at 34 at the end of regulation, and they needed another period to determine a winner. Atlanta took advantage of a missed field goal to get the win, putting the Falcons atop the NFC South. They relinquished their hold on the division after last week’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, but a win here would move them back to .500 on the year.
The Atlanta Falcons will look to reclaim control of the NFC South on Thursday Night Football when they face the Carolina Panthers. This game will be played on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video from Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Odds Analysis
There has not been any movement on the side as Atlanta is still a 2.5-point road favorite in this game. However, we have seen some early movement on the total. The number opened at 41 even though these two teams combined for 71 points less than two weeks ago, and it’s now sitting at 42.5.
Atlanta Falcons
We saw Atlanta jump out to a 10-0 lead over the Los Angeles Chargers last week, but they ended up losing 20-17 after scoring just one touchdown after a strong first quarter. After being the hero last week, Younghoe Koo missed a 50-yard field goal that would have given the Falcons a six-point lead in the final frame.
Marcus Mariota has limited his mistakes in recent weeks after throwing four interceptions through the first four weeks of the 2022 season. Mariota has only thrown two picks in his last five games, but both of those turnovers came against Carolina . The key for the Falcons is for Mariota to not turn the ball over and for this team to establish the run, and that has helped them exceed expectations to this point.
Unfortunately, Atlanta has one of the worst defenses in the NFL. The Falcons are ranked 26th in scoring defense (25.0 PPG) and 31st in total defense (406.9 YPG). Opponents are averaging 300.0 YPG against this secondary, and Atlanta has been unable to get to the quarterback. This defense will be without its top two cornerbacks in Casey Hayward and A.J. Terrell, so they could be in big trouble on this end.

Carolina Panthers
P.J. Walker seemed to be turning the corner as a quarterback at the next level, but he was dreadful in Carolina’s blowout loss to Cincinnati last week. Walker completed just 3 of 10 passes for 9 yards and two interceptions, and Baker Mayfield replaced him after halftime. It’s likely that Walker will get the start again this week, but another poor performance in the early going could lead to an early hook in favor of Mayfield.
This offense doesn’t have a lot of playmakers with Christian McCaffrey gone and Chuba Hubbard banged up. D’Onta Foreman will be the No. 1 running back, and D.J. Moore is the top receiver as always, but there isn’t another player on this roster that can routinely make things happen.
Carolina has a much better defense than Atlanta. Although the Panthers rank 29th in scoring defense and 27th in total defense, they are surrendering just 5.5 yards per play. Jaycee Horn is a very good cornerback, and Shaq Thompson has played alright. Brian Burns can be an elite pass rusher, while Derrick Brown is a solid defensive tackle when he is healthy.
Falcons at Panthers Free Pick
The underdog is the way to go here as defense will rule the day. Carolina will make amends for its slow start in Week 8, and the Panthers will be better this time around.
