For the second time in as many weeks the Atlanta Falcons will be featured in a primetime matchup hosting the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the Week 3 Sunday Night Football game. Atlanta earned its first win of the season and also got me a nice NFL same game parlay payout at my Bitcoin Sportsbook by beating Philadelphia outright as a 5.5-point road dog on Monday night.
The Chiefs play their first road game of the season after two close home wins that both came down to the final play of the game. A 51-yard field goal as time expired gave them a 26-25 win over Cincinnati last week extending their overall winning streak to eight. The Chiefs had been perfect against the spread in that span until failing to cover the 6.5-point line against the Bengals. This is a matchup we don’t see that often with the teams in opposite conferences and on opposite ends of the standings over the years. The Falcons made a big investment in Kirk Cousins with hopes of getting their first winning season and playoff appearance since 2017.

Kansas City / Atlanta OVER 46.5

With a big help from the Falcons I hit my three-wager NFL same game parlay on Monday night. I backed Atlanta +6.5 and the UNDER with the Falcons winning outright 22-21. Cousins had some big passing games against the Eagles in the past and with the rust of nearly a year of inactivity chiseled off in the opener I backed the OVER on his passing yards total. The number came in at 225.5 and Cousins easily beat that throwing for 241 yards.
The expectations in the ATL were elevated with the signing of Cousins and defenders Matthew Judon and Justin Simmons. The D didn’t allow a touchdown in the Week 1 loss to Pittsburgh and held Philly to 2 of 5 inside the red zone last week. They will have a more difficult time against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, who are sixth in the NFL in scoring. The crazy thing about it is that the Chiefs have seemingly played below their level yet they still boast a top offense.
Mahomes passed for just 151 yards last week with a pair of interceptions and has as many picks as TD passes through two games. Travis Kelce has disappeared within the offense catching just four passes for 39 yard in two games. The Mahomes-Kelce tandem has been an integral part of the Chiefs offense through their run of dominance and I can see the duo getting back in sync on Sunday night. That’s why one of my same game parlay wagers is backing the tight end to have at least five catches.
The Falcons have a lot of weapons on offense and we’ve seen the Chiefs get burned by balanced teams. Baltimore had 267 passing yards and 452 total yards in the opener and Cincinnati had 320 yards last week, though the Chiefs held them to just 74 yards on the ground. I really think this game has the potential to be a shootout with two extremely talented offensive clubs led by veteran QBs.
Some might say the Chiefs have had luck on their side in the early going with both wins decided on the game’s final play. The tip of Baltimore’s Isaiah Likely’s shoe tickled the endline in what would have given the Ravens a chance to tie or win the opener. Video review determined the play was out of bounds and KC escaped, 27-20. Last week their game-winning drive was extended by a Bengals pass interference on fourth down. A few plays later Harrison Butker hit a 51-yard field goal. I feel strongly that Atlanta can win this game outright, but I’ll take the points just in case.
