Coming off the biggest season of his professional career, online sportsbooks have pegged Davante Adams as one of the elite wide receivers in the game evidenced by him carrying the second highest passing yardage total on the board behind that dude that makes his home in Houston. Adams was the complete package last year in adding a career-high 13 touchdowns to go along with a career-high 1,386 receiving yards. If not selected first, he’ll no doubt be the second wide receiver taken off the board in season-long fantasy football drafts and will also be one of the more expensive pass catchers to roster in DFS on a weekly basis. We’re talking about a premiere receiver that surpassed his personal receiving yards O/U in nine of 15 played games a season ago. He’s the Real Deal Holyfield and will be Aaron Rodgers’ primary target with the rest of his wide receiver corps being groomed for greatness down the road.
Total Rushing Yards: 1300.5
Offensive Philosophy
No team in the league slung the pigskin around the ball yard more than the 2018-19 Green Bay Packers. Though a new coaching staff is now in place, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett would be wise to go to his biggest playmaker on the field early and often. The Packers pass play percentage checked in at a robust 67.5 percent a season ago, and Adams took advantage of it by reeling in a career-high 111 receptions which were 36 more than his previous high of 75 accrued back in the 2016-17 season. The second highest reception tally on the roster went to veteran Jimmy Graham with 55.
So, it’s safe to assume Adams – provided he stays healthy – will once again be seeing a bulk of targets from No. 12 over the course of the season. Whether it translates into another career-high for Adams remains to be seen, but Matt LaFleur is no dummy and now knows to get the ball into his best players’ hands after finally allowing Derrick Henry to run roughshod upon the league at the tail end of last season.

Schedule Breakdown
Rodgers enters 2019-20 with one of the tougher schedules for a quarterback. With that, it only makes perfect sense that Green Bay’s wide receivers will also have a tough go of it. That’s exactly the case with the schedule strength currently checking in as the 13th toughest in the league. That however is a good thing. With the Packers playing to a number of game scripts that could find them trailing or the game being really close, Green Bay won’t have the luxury of putting the passing game on ice and looking to the ground attack to salt games away. More opportunity equates to more counting stats, and its receiving yards we’re looking for when it comes to picking a side on Adams’ receiving yards prop at betting sites.
Of the 16 games on the slate, only three look to be cream puff matchups with two coming at home against the Eagles and Panthers with the final coming in the beautiful conditions of Levi’s Stadium against the 49ers. Other than that, Adams will have his hands full dealing with the likes of the Vikings and Bears (twice) along with the Chargers and Cowboys.
The Bet
The Packers have played to the over in 19 of their last 32 games. It’s equated to missing out on the playoffs in back-to-back seasons. That’s one of the reasons why Mike McCarthy was fired at the tail end of last season and an entirely new coaching staff is in place. The days of Green Bay simply just looking to outscore its opponents in shootouts are likely over. Who knows how many more years Rodgers has with the veteran missing a bulk of 2017-18 and playing with an injured knee throughout all of last season. The less he has to throw to preserve his health the better with his incumbent still likely not on the roster.
With that, I’m expecting to see quite a bit more running from the offense, and that will dramatically reduce the opportunities Adams will have to better last season’s output. I’ll be fading the Cheeseheads premiere wide receiver and expect him to come up short of surpassing his bold receiving yards total at top rated sportsbooks.
