My take in last year’s preview piece dealing with the Jacksonville Jaguars season win total odds centered around 2020-21 being the season of the tank. I began the piece with that question and ended it by relaying my investment at online sportsbooks. I hit the under 4.5 in case you were wondering and cashed the ticket with ease after the Jags managed just one win over the course of their 16 game schedule. It was all about landing the services of Trevor Lawrence from day one. With the quarterback of the future now donning black and teal, the franchise took the rebuild a major step further by reeling Urban Meyer in from out of retirement to overlook the progression. I don’t know how Meyer’s philosophies will translate at the NFL level, but the one thing I do know is that he’s a proven winner that succeeded in every one of his stops across the collegiate landscape. Linemakers respect what Jacksonville did so much that its win total checks in at 6 with heavy vig attached to the high side. In a division considered to be a two-horse race between the Titans and Colts, that’s quite the eye-opener. Does Jacksonville have enough in the tank to pull off a worst-to-first run after bringing up the rear of the AFC South the last three seasons? If it happens, it would be nothing short of storybook material!

Jacksonville Jaguars Season Win Total: 6 Over -136
If not for a fluky 10-6 campaign back in 2017 that saw the Jaguars’ season end in the AFC title game, the franchise would be looking to snap an arduous 10-year streak of failing to surpass their season win total. Since cashing that lone over ticket and making numerous NFL bettors believe Jacksonville was on the rise, a grand total of 12 wins and 36 losses were amassed all the while going a bankroll killing 19-27-2 ATS. While the compass certainly looks to be pointing north and the team is the owner of the fourth easiest schedule strength according to Sharp Football Stats, a six-game improvement with a rookie head coach, rookie QB and completely retooled roster is a tall ask in my opinion. That said, I learned early in Urban’s career to never doubt him. The dude’s money in the bank!

Jacksonville Jaguars Season Win Total Analysis
The Jags get the NFC West and AFC East along with standalone games against the Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals. Also don’t forget about the six scheduled games against divisional opposition. And yes, I’m including the Texans! Speaking of Houston, they’re likely to get the pleasure of taking a loss in Week 1 against the team that just landed the No. 1 pick. Funny how things work out since I’ll be attempting to find odds on Houston not winning a single game this season!
In all seriousness, Jacksonville could have a shot at a 3-1 record through the first month of the season. If that happens, Meyer will have an excellent opportunity to surpass the team’s win total in his very first year at the helm. The Jags offense is going to be fun to watch! With Lawrence under center and the solid 1-2 backfield punch of James Robinson and rookie Travis Etienne, Jacksonville already possesses a better than average offensive attack. Add to the mix a wide receiver corps that includes youngsters DJ Chark, Laviska Shenault and veteran free agent Marvin Jones, and it only gets better. But wait, there’s more! The Jaguars are two above average tackles away from possessing one of the more excelled offensive lines in the game.
The defense is expected to be better in the secondary, but it still has a long ways to go after giving up the second most yards and points a season ago. With that, it’s highly likely that the Jaguars partake in a multitude of high scoring matchups over the course of the regular season. In all honesty, six wins looks to be the perfect number. It wouldn’t shock me in the least if the team ultimately pushes. However, if Meyer is able to catch lightning in the bottle right from the outset, some goofiness could ensue. I’ve seen some 6.5s floating around out there with plus-money juice attached to it. That in my opinion is the way to attack this impost just in case the Jags hit the ground running and never look back. While they’ll be lucky to win a game against out of division opponents like the Cardinals, Dolphins, Seahawks, Bills, 49ers and Rams, they can certainly get the best of teams like the Broncos, Bengals, Falcons, Jets and Patriots. Gambling on Urban has rarely been a bad thing; take the shot!
