Jameis Winston Props – Passing Yards and Touchdowns

Jameis Winston Props – Passing Yards and Touchdowns

We know the talent is there. Jameis Winston is a former Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. He’s shown us glimpses of stardom in the past, but turnovers, injuries and suspensions have prevented him from taking his game to an elite level. Enter QB whisperer and former AP Coach of the Year Bruce Arians who has resurrected the careers of Carson Palmer and many others over the course of his successful coaching career. In only 11 games and nine starts, Winston just came up short of throwing for 3,000 yards and 20 TD last season. Online sportsbooks expect a better showing with a likely 16-game slate in the offing, and the addition of the new coaching staff has fantasy footballers drooling over the prospects of Tampa Bay lighting scoreboards up every passing week. If that comes to fruition, Winston and his future props backers stand to benefit the most.

Total Passing Yards: 4400.5
Total Passing TD: 26.5

Season Outlook

The NFC South might just be the most competitive division in all of professional football with the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers all deemed viable Super Bowl LIV candidates. Only the Bucs figure to not be a player in the division evidenced by their 16-1 return on winning it, but that shouldn’t prevent you from buying into one of the more potent offensive attacks the league has to offer. Tampa Bay racked up over 415 total yards per game (No. 3) a season ago to go along with an average of 24.8 points (No. 12). It was forced to outscore all opponents due to the defense being of the embarrassing variety. Not enough has changed on that side of the ball heading into 2019-20, so it’s highly likely the Buccaneers partake in a number of shootouts once again. That bodes extremely well for Winston conquering both his passing yards and touchdown pass future props at offshore sportsbooks.

Schedule Breakdown

When going just by last season’s stats, Winston’s schedule strength checks in as the seventh easiest of the 32 field generals. The potential is there for Tampa Bay to get out to a surprising start to the season. They’re currently installed short favorites to win the opener against the 49ers and then have a crucial game against the Panthers in their first road trip followed by a home clash against the Giants. Winston will have a solid shot of throwing for 800 or more yards in those three games alone! The road trip to the Coliseum could be tough against the Rams veteran secondary, but he then gets to take advantage of the Saints defensive weak link in the Superdome before getting the Panthers for the second time in the comforts of Raymond James Stadium. While the schedule gets tougher coming out of the Week 7 bye, there are still some real juicy matchups lined up against the Saints, Falcons (twice) and Lions.

The Bets

Jameis threw for 300+ yards in his final two games of the 2018-19 season and at least 2 TD in five of his last seven games. With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and hopefully a fully healthy O.J. Howard in the mix to kick off the season, Winston has the arsenal surrounding him to make Arians’ first go round in Tampa Bay one to remember and build upon. This is bolstered by the fact that Winston has never thrown for more than 4,100 yards in a single season yet top rated sportsbooks have his number to beat currently checking in 300+ yards higher. With so much ground to make up on the other side of the ball, the Bucs will be partaking in a plethora of shootouts over the course of the regular season. With that the case, it only makes perfect sense in my opinion to go along for the ride and root for the former Florida State Seminole to smash his career marks in both passing yardage and touchdowns thrown.
