Tons of hype surrounded Jimmy Garoppolo entering the 2018-19 season with the keys to a full time gig in his possession for the first time in his career. Before San Francisco 49ers fans got a chance to enjoy what the handsome gunslinger had to offer, he was lost in Week 3 when he suffered a knee injury at the Minnesota Vikings. Word out of Niners’ camp is that No. 10 is 100 percent healthy and fully recovered. C.J. Beathard and Nick Mullens combined to put forth respectable numbers in his absence, so many seem to be bullish on what Jimmy G has to offer heading into the 2019-20 campaign at online sportsbooks. You know darn well Kyle Shanahan has been chomping at the bit to get the star of his offense back in the mix, so the needle certainly looks to be pointed up for the Niners and their fan base moving forward.
Total Passing Yards: 4100.5

Season Outlook
With an 8-game season win total and the fact that they’re considered longshots – along with the Seahawks – to prevent the Los Angeles Rams from winning a third straight NFC West title, the 49ers have their work cut out for them if in fact they’re to cash in as enormous 45-1 underdogs on the Super Bowl LIV futures odds. San Francisco won a grand total of four games last season and parlayed that poor finish into acquiring a key cog for the defense it hopes pays dividends for years to come. Whether the defense improves upon its better than average seasonal outputs from a season ago remains to be seen, but what we do know is that the 49ers are poised to greatly improve upon its below average seasonal offensive outputs provided the new additions pan out and Garoppolo stays injury free. Should that occur, he’ll have an excellent shot at living up to the high expectations bestowed upon him in terms of passing yards and touchdowns.

Schedule Breakdown
Going by last season’s stats, Jimmy G’s two toughest matchups will occur against the Cardinals and Ravens in the middle of the season. That said, it remains to be seen how Arizona’s defense fares with the offense now running Kliff Kingsbury’s Air Raid, and Baltimore went through a major defensive overhaul this past offseason. Other than the pair of regular season meetings against the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco will get the benefit of opposing a number of defenses that allowed quarterbacks to have their way with them last season. Going by 2018’s defensive statistics, Jimmy Garoppolo will square off against the ninth easiest schedule for opposing quarterbacks. He’s no doubt headed for a sensational start to the season with the Buccaneers and Bengals on the docket; the former ranked No. 28 against quarterbacks while the latter served up the most charitable defense in the league. If not ranked in the top-3 for passing yards and touchdowns thrown heading into the Week 3 home bout with the Steelers, Jimmy won’t have a shot of surpassing his bloated futures outputs at offshore sportsbooks.
The Bets
The rookie additions of Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd will no doubt help improve the 49ers passing attack in the coming years. Having a healthy Marquise Goodwin, Dante Pettis off a solid close of the year and George Kittle – arguably the best tight end in the game – has San Francisco boasting an excellent pass catching corps. Installing Tevin Coleman into the backfield was another solid move, as he will give Garoppolo the steady pass catching artist the team sorely needed with Jerick McKinnon proving to be a bust. All this adds up to the Niners getting back to doing what Shanahan loves doing most - passing the pigskin! In just six games and five starts at the tail end of 2017, Garoppolo threw for 1,560 yards. Average that out a full 16 games, and it equates to 4,160 passing yards. That output beats his current passing yards future at online sportsbooks. Provided the injury bug is avoided, I think Jimmy G sails past that impost to make his supporter’s richer. However, I’m not buying into him throwing 26+ touchdowns. All that yardage only amounted into 7 TD in his best outings as a Niner, and San Francisco has a solid stable of running backs that could eat into his output when in the red zone. Gimme the under on the touchdown prop!
