The Dallas Cowboys visit the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night in a game that can be seen on FOX. Both teams are struggling of late, as the Cowboys have dropped their past two games, while the Saints have lost four in a row. Despite their recent losses, the Cowboys are in firm control of the NFC East, but the Saints are now in serious jeopardy of not making the playoffs. The Saints could be getting some good news soon, as Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram and Ryan Ramczyk returned to practice on Sunday. The Cowboys are listed as six-point road favorites in this contest. Let’s look at this game and Thursday Night NFL picks.

New Orleans Saints +6

Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys come into this game at 8-3 SU and 6-5 ATS with six games going over the total and five going under. The Cowboys are 3-2 on the road this season. Dallas is averaging 29.6 points per game which is 3rd-best in the NFL. They are averaging 419.8 yards per game and that leads the league. The Cowboys are giving up 22.7 points per contest which is just 14th in the league.
Ezekiel Elliott leads the team in touchdowns with eight and he leads the team in rushing with 720 yards. Dak Prescott has thrown for 2,932 yards, while CeeDee Lamb leads the team with 740 receiving yards. The good news for Dallas is that Lamb is expected to play after missing last week. It also looks like Amari Cooper will return this week.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints are 5-6 SU and 5-6 ATS with six games going over the total and five going under. New Orleans is 1-3 at home this season.
The Saints are averaging 23.4 points per game which is 18th in the league. They are averaging just 309.4 yards per contest. The Saints are giving up just 22.6 points per game which is 12th in the NFL. The one weakness for New Orleans on defense is against the pass, as they are just 23rd in the league, allowing 251.8 yards per game.
Alvin Kamara leads the team in rushing yards with 530, Jameis Winston still leads the team with 1,170 passing yards even though he is out for the year, while Deonte Harris leads the team with 427 receiving yards. As mentioned earlier, the Saints are hoping to get Kamara and Ingram back this week.
Thursday Night NFL Picks
The Saints have won 7 of the last 10 meetings in this series. The teams have not met since September of 2019 when it was New Orleans winning 12-10 at home. The Saints have won 8 of the last 10 at home against Dallas, with eight of the ten going under the total.
I said last week that I didn’t think the Saints had much chance against Buffalo and it was an easy win for the Bills. This game looks a lot like that one, although New Orleans should be better if they get Kamara and Ingram back as expected. Dallas has also been a tough team to figure out, as they look to have a lot of talent but sometimes it just doesn’t show up.
There is no question that Dallas has the better offense and that they will put points on the board. The question is how many points with the Saints be able to score with Siemian running the offense. He is basically a backup quarterback and that means he will make mistakes.
This game should be a win for Dallas, but I am not thrilled about laying a touchdown on the road with a team that can’t be trusted. I do think we’ll see more offense from the Saints this week, so I will simply play the game to go over the total.
